Re: Jennings Governor plating

I see that mazac is mentioned again. I know you said it was aluminium BP but everyone I’ve spoken to seems to think it’s mazac. Does anyone know for sure? I am trying to find a plater for a friends Governor. Any more recent recommendations/advice?

Re: Operator dilemma: old Pennies or Tokens?

Interesting thinking moonriver. Those of us who remember the inimitable John Morley will know that his vintage arcade ran on the new 5p piece. His vintage arcade was probably the busiest one that I’ve ever seen by a long shot. It would be a stinker to switch from 1d to 5p though but John was no fool.

Re: Operator dilemma: old Pennies or Tokens?

A fascinating thread. You can charge whatever you like with skill only games but be careful with bandits. HMRC will not differentiate between tokens and cash and I believe 10p is the upper limit. A grumpy customer might put a call in and then things could get messy. Another thing to consider is whet...

Re: Tumbling Prices…

I realise these are asking and not selling prices but it does give an indication that Allwins are no longer around the £500 price tag. Plenty around for £500.00. A lot of items are not selling although certain bumped up prices would suggest otherwise. There is still money around for certain machine...

Re: Your Queen

Please accept my sincerest condolences upon the death of Queen Elizabeth. A most rare woman of probity and pluck, she was the face of Great Britain to the rest of us for the seventy years of her rein. You have suffered a great loss and I am certain when I say that her example will stand the test of...

Thank you both. I’ll give it a try when I’m next at my Mum’s. It so useful storing items elsewhere when you don’t have space. 🥴

Sega Lite-up coin entry

I am rebuilding an old Sega cabinet and in the process of installing old penny furniture to convert the machine from 1p to 1d. The coin entry has been changed to 1p by shrinking the size of the hole. So, wise and learned collectors, what do reckon I should do to remove whatever it is that is shrinki...

Bally Conversions

I was wondering how many firms there were offering refurbed Bally bandits in the 70’s.

Greaves was one such firm and I understand Associated Leisure was another. Are there any more that come to mind? I vaguely remember seeing some in Coin Slot even as late as the early 80’s.

Bradley Challenger-v-Super Challenger

Post moved & merged - Site Admin. I was looking at the original and relatively attractive Challenger coin drop machine and was comparing it to the less attractive Super Challenger. I understand that the latter has an ‘automatic’ payout. How does this work and was the earlier model over engineer...

Re: Mutoscope Owners

I would absolutely love an old tinny. I have spoken to quite a few old operators and I’m surprised how many are in lock-ups in the UK. One arcade owner handed over 20 of them to another operator as part of a deal for some new machines. He’s keeping them for now. 🙄

Re: Tumbling Prices…

Okay, maybe not tumbling but most have not increased for years save for a few machines. Sega bandits for £200. Allwins for £500. We were paying those sorts of prices 15 years ago.

Best you keep repeating it. Someone might listen, eventually. !!IDEA!! Others thought otherwise but I’ll bow to your knowledge if you have others. How does it work as an anti-cheat mech? I did read that it ‘locks the payout’ in case you thought you were speaking to yourself.

As for Uncle Gordon, I bet you wish you were back there today purloining/borrowing some of those machines. 😉
