Re: King (Beromat Type) restore
Well, as always coppinger has done a brilliant job of restoration. Also, I may be in a minority but I like the machine with its unusual design and the bold colours and motif.

Re: Who could resist this when you read the details
Some of you may remember Roy Brooks a remarkably honest estate agent (Yes true Guv ! ) and his most famous book " Brothel in Pimlico ". He made his reputation by being brutally honest and quite often rude about the houses ( and their owners ). He was very successful and buyers and sellers ...

Reading others' memories of various arcades very nostalgic for me. Thanks Jerry. A great deal of hard work for little reward. All I can say ...

Re: Allwin identification please
Ah yes. I take that point. What I was trying to say was that I wondered if perhaps a number of modern restorers were adding pediments when none first existed to 'enhance' ( in their view ) although in many cases just replacing broken or missing original pediments.

Re: Allwin identification please
I have a machine from the 1920s which has a modern very similar pediment added to it though I think it may have had one orginally. I have seen one or two machines with something similar and I guess it may have been fairly common/popular. Many more here more expert who might shed some light.

Now then. Queen Elizabeth became Queen on the 6th February 1952 immediately on the death of George the 6th.She was not crowned until the 2nd June 1953. So although it says 1952 could it actually mean 1953?!!!!

RIP indeed. One of the funniest and most acute observers of the human condition. One favourite amongst many was 'How Americans see us and how we see them' : a masterpiece.
