Re: Bally Haunted Mansion (Photoshop or similar help )

Hello Richard, As a cheap solution you could get a photo print of your image and sandwich it between two pieces of 2mm non etched picture glass. I have done this in the past and it looks quite good. You won't, of course, get a light to shine through it very well and this is where clear adhesive film...

Re: Bally Haunted Mansion (Photoshop or similar help )

Hello Richard, I don’t know if this will help as I am not very au fait with Bandits, other than the UK Government. :NBG: I assume you are looking for a print of your Haunted House image onto clear adhesive film. 38.5 x 20.5cm is within the area of A3 sized film therefore if you were to print your im...

Very rare Buckley Pointmaker

I found this very rare Buckley Pointmaker on American eBay. pointmaker1.JPG It has six days to run and these are two of thirteen photos of the machine and its control box. This is the information given by the seller. pointmaker2.JPG In 1951 the Johnson Act was enacted which made it illegal to sell o...

Re: Lovely Rippler up for auction :)

Hi Widget, You suggest in the auction listing that this may be a repro. This then from the Bryans Penny Arcade Website. RIPPLER (1934) In this game, ten balls would fall from the top of the playfield. The player would rotate the two paddles in the centre of the playfield in an attempt to deflect the...

Re: I'm losing my noodle

It made $300 (£182.54) I wondered how it worked. Looking at the Cowper Mfg. Monarch above it looks very much like the same mechanism in a different case and with reference to the eBay close-up photos and the Monarch there appear to be 46 segments, so to me a logical payout would appear to be, 2 yell...

Re: Cleaning Sixpences

Some sixpences were real silver and they tarnish to black so something like Silverdip might do the job. An old jeweller friend of mine used to clean jewellery by lightly simmering it in Bold washing powder for about five minutes. My wife occasionally cleans her engagement ring this way and it certai...

Re: Rare Diana shooter on eBay

Wow! That’s an interesting looking machine.
I managed to translate the Jentzsc Diana paper (above) with 'Translate with Live Search'. It makes very interesting reading and there is a good video of it working.

Re: Bryans Worlborl

Thank you for your kind comments JC. :woops: I only have a small model engineer’s workshop with no modern electronic gadgets. The panel was rough cut from 3mm thick stainless steel plate using a bandsaw; then the finishing cuts and the recesses were machined out using endmills in a 60 year old manua...

Re: Bryans Worlborl

I have managed to get a bit more of the Worlborl done.
I said in an earlier post that I would have to make the operator plate in three sections; this is the first part completed.

Re: Fairground and or seaside music???

Hi Jeremy, Oh, to have H.G.Wells’s Time Machine and to go back in time to see some of these great Music Hall performers. With fourteen recordings your Granddad and his mate must have been a popular act, I would loved to have seen them on stage. True there are some clips available to watch on Youtube...

Re: Wonders allwin back plastic

I hate using Acrylic sheet as it cracks and splits at the first touch of a saw or drill; even if I use a pair of wood battens to sandwich it whilst cutting it still sometimes cracks a short while afterwards; very long cuts I find are impossible to make with a hand saw. I prefer to use polycarbonate ...

Re: Fairground and or seaside music???

Hi ClassicGambler, You say a ‘long time ago’ so if you are thinking about the mid 1800’s and early 1900’s people would have been interested in the star performers of that time, just as we are today so from that time I suggest the Music Hall would be the place to look. Many of the Music Hall performa...

Re: Waltonophone

Hi Chunny, I think working out the motor speed can be done with a mathematical calculation. It appears from the patent drawing that the drive to the turntable is by a rubber wheel (on the vertical rod with the three governor weights on it) that runs on the rear edge of the turntable. If so then you ...

Re: Bryans Worlborl

Thank you for the information, Mr.PM; your photo of the complete machine is very helpful. !THUMBS! It shows the pin positions below the ball release hole really well and this is something I had been pondering about for some while. It's such a shame when all the effort that goes into the works of a m...

Re: Bryans Worlborl

Thank you all for your kind comments. Yes, Mr PM, I’m very pleased with the way the Worlborl is progressing. The copies of the original Bryans graphics, which you posted in Resources, give it an air of authenticity which I would have had difficulty in reproducing successfully. Leatherette is still a...

Re: Walnuts for scratches

I've just tried this on a light wood table and it seems to work OK; the nut leaves an oily film in the scratch mark.
The only downside is that you can't eat the Walnut afterwards.
