Re: Nicholson “Operating Theatre” & Canova “Problem”
Thanks Dave, so it is the same one - as I said above, my memory is vague. Was it working when you acquired it? I recall John reckoned there was quite a bit of work to do to get it operating, but I might have got that wrong too :!?!: Did you have the John Bull that was down in the basement? That's ab...

Spell checker
Having made a few recent posts, it's become apparent that the forum has adopted an American spell checker.
Any chance of getting that fixed?

Yes, I noticed that - weird, as I don't really see what is achieved by having two men so close together.pennymachines wrote: ↑Tue May 30, 2023 1:07 pm Can anyone identify the Ice Hockey game with two figures at each end?
Even weirder is that the men don't actually look like hockey players.

Re: Bolland v Kraft Guillotine / Watchman / Haunted Churuchyard
Is this the one you are talking about Jerry? I'm not sure Stuart, it's a good number of years now since I visited the Scarborough collection and as far as I can recall, nothing much was working. I also mentioned above the Kraft Drunkard's Dream - this is really bugging me. It was probably around 25...

Re: God save the King!
Jerry, I prefer to be known as English I probably switch between British and English depending on the circumstance, although I think Sharron and I both tend to identify as British in general, otherwise it could get difficult - because she's Scottish by birth. As you say, perceived identity is inter...

God save the King!
Well, no one yet has mentioned it, but today I was very proud to be British! Just think, at the time of the last Coronation, cranes in seaside amusement arcades were only just coming back into commission, sweets only recently having 'come off the ration'; one-armed bandits were illegal in public pla...

Re: Bolland v Kraft Guillotine / Watchman / Haunted Churuchyard
Not so fast Mr P, the Haunted Churchyard is a Kraft. The one thing that is not consistent with Kraft cabinets is the fact that the door doesn't extend all the way to the bottom of the case, otherwise it's 100% Kraft. The big giveaway is the top horizontal rail of the case, which is removable (see th...

Re: Lock ID
Any locksmith would easily be able to produce a key - I'm assuming it's a simple two-lever lock. But beware, the last time I had a key of this type cut, it wasn't cheap (£8.50 I think) and that was just copying an existing key.

Re: 'Evernice' matchbox vendor
I've seen these machines before - they're a lot smaller than you may think. You get an idea of scale when comparing the coins in the bottom - they are only 1c, they're not old pennies. But I agree, it's not clear how the boxes are released...... the boxes look big to me

Re: Woodward Allmaster Allwin
Sorry to throw a massive spanner into the works, but from the info Stuart has provided, Mr Woodward would have been born in 1920. Wouldn't that have made him a bit young to have manufactured what appears to be a 1930s allwin? My guess is that (especially as he appears to have been a travelling showm...

Re: Slot Religion working models
Although I (and probably a few others), am aware of the identity of the maker of these models, he has certainly never had any internet presence, and to the best of my knowledge is not a member of this forum, or indeed any other. For that reason, I think he needs to remain anonymous. Just enjoy your ...
