Re: If you're using Hammerite ...
I have always used Standard Cellulose Thinner (less than £10 for 5lts and available from any trade supplier of motor vehicle spray paints, not the Halfords or Motorworld sharks, ) for both spraying and brush cleaning and have found no problems; also good for any solvent based gloss, varnish or simil...

Re: X-Ray Photo - looks like an allwin ????
This one sold for £480 at the Easter Elephant House Auction.
Presumably the 'X-Ray Photos' were of a comic nature; does any one have any examples they can post?
John
ps; I trust I can use the Elephant House picture in this post.

Re: finally its finished
A really great looking machine.
You have made a brilliant job of the case considering it is from a re-cycled table top.
I hope the job that the hospital done on your hand looks as good as the machine does.

Bryan's Retreeva Help Required Please
I doing some research on the Bryan’s Retreeva as my next ‘Build It’ project and I am looking for some photos of the mech. and I wonder if any Retreeva owners / forum members can help. If possible, I would like three ‘straight on’ photos of the mech.; top, middle and bottom plus some close-ups of the...

Re: Bryans Worlborl
Progress on the Worlborl is a bit slow at present as I am waiting for a friend, who is currently working abroad, to saw a length of oak in half as my bandsaw is not powerful enough to cut through six inches of solid oak. I took some photos at the Elephant House ‘Bryan’s Viewing Day’ and there is an ...

Re: Bryans Bumper
Oh dear, I think I have just been Moderated for using too many Scratchets'. The Patent number quoted on the Flyer is for the Clock. and Think like a Bryans clock face. It says in the flyer that the pay-out is "Automatic" Is it possible then that the Clock mech was adapted to make th...

Re: Bryans Bumper
Good luck with your searching , I have been looking for 20 years 20 years!!! ---- I don’t think I stand much chance then :#: ; although some years back a Bryan's catalogue showing pictures and drawings was up for auction and the Bumper was mentioned in the auctioneers blurb. The Bumper flyer is a b...

Re: Bryans Bumper
Thanks for the flyer info, Bryans fan.
It must have been one hell of a machine weighing in at 85 lbs, 3/4 of a hundredweight??? Hopefully a drawing of the mech may yet surface; I have tried to find the patent number in the Online Archives but no luck yet.

Re: The Most Impressive Bryans Collection to be offered ever
And no pictures of the inside of the Rockets :#: Sorry TF, ‘fraid not. I grabbed my camera in a spur of the moment decision in order to get some photos of the Worlborl in order to finish mine off. I hadn’t used the camera in some time so the inevitable happened; three shots and the batteries were f...

Bryans Bumper
Bryans Bumper Does anyone know if / where there are any patent drawings or other reliable info available on the Bryans Bumper. The only info I can find is on Melvin Wright’s, ‘Bryans Penny Arcade’ website, which says: "The Bumper was a coin-operated version of the popular fairground Striker. Pl...

Re: The Most Impressive Bryans Collection to be offered ever
Went to the EH ‘Bryans Preview’ yesterday, arriving at about 12.30 and staying around an hour. In that time less than a dozen others were viewing which was very pleasant in that it was easy to look at the machines and get the fronts off some to view the works.

Re: Beachcomber build
Just another thought; I wonder if it could it be this simple? Just a quick, poor quality, drawing to help with the description. It does not show the playing surface board so the coin stop is on the play side and the balance weight and release arm 'triangle' is on the back joined by a pin through the...

Re: Beachcomber build
Just a thought; as the first coin falls into the empty column does the chrome deflector reset a stop (which we can’t see in the photo) and then the plastic triangle holds it in place. With the correct geometry between the stop and the triangle it would be easy for a coin to move the triangle and rel...

Re: 1890s coin operated display apparatus
I like it; it would make a sparkling fish tank !!FISH!! Just put some electric blue Neon Tetra’s in and being six sided it will fit neatly in the corner of the lounge. If the fish splash about a bit and get the works wet it can only intensify the pleasure; the vibrator mentioned might also be useful...
