Re: Reels Don't Always Spin Fast! Need Help Again!!!

Heres a good tip for next time Mark: Lay out some old newpaper on the living room floor and you can work on the mechanism spread out on the floor whilst the wife is enjoying Coronation Street or The Bill. Tell her this is your way of spending valuable time with HER whilst also persuing your hobby! I...

Re: Reels Don't Always Spin Fast! Need Help Again!!!

Ill give you a tenner for it! ....................Only joking. Assuming the clock is completing its travel every time between each play. Is the kicker arm free to move? It's held to the casting with a large shoulder screw which sometimes ceases up. You may need to remove the kick arm spring to get i...

Re: Reels Don't Always Spin Fast! Need Help Again!!!

I'm having the same problem at home: On Sunday I was busy de-greasing this old Mills mech in the kitchen sink when my adoring wife pushed all of the payslides off the draining board with a tray of roast chicken, after I'd carefully laid them all out in sequence. Several screws fell down into the sin...

Re: Reels Don't Always Spin Fast! Need Help Again!!!

and dont forget the brakes! That's the springy arm on each reel held in place with 2 wingnuts. You could loosen these wingnuts slightly and tweak the pressure on each screw to adjust each reel so each comes to a soft stop, you can see one of them in the photo (bot right). (by the way, nice Sega mech...

Re: Reels Don't Always Spin Fast! Need Help Again!!!

An excellent photo and explanation from Badpenny by the way! Can I just add: The reason for the apparent randomness of the spin times is because Sega machines were sometimes fitted with a "randomiser". This consists of an offset cam having several flats around it, which rotates slightly on...

Re: Coin Pusher - Blueprints

I used to have a similar model to the Easy-Push. They appear to be constructed from modified Ruffler & Walker bandit cases (once used for housing the "Automat" mechanisms in the late 60's).

I bought one of those reaction testers ages ago for £45! (mind you it was rough). They are a pain if you want to change the coinage though. Mine is on old 5p and I had to make a "cash door" for it, otherwise the coins fall out of the bottom!. Have you ever had a coin jam inside (one behind...

Reality Check

 Hello, I thought I'd drop in and check the status of slot collecting in general. It's not like the ol' days when myself, George, Jerry, Dave, and the usual gang would be there at every venue, swapping, selling, buying. We were like a team. Lets look at what went wrong: 1) The number of slot ...

Identifying Mills

Most of the Mills had a serial number PRINTED underneath the cabinet across the bottom in black or blue ink. It is usually very feint. You will need to tip it right over to see it. All of the internal Mills mechanism parts have a code commencing MLB. If your not sure if just the mechs been changed f...

The Sega / Mills link

The history of of Sega's involvement with Mills, as I understand it came about during the late 50's when the Mills management decided to expand machine production to the rest of the world and took on a friendly deal with Sega to produce the Mills design under license from Mills but Badged Sega. They...

Re: Streets Marksman

I don't suppose the "stylus arm" consists of a carbon brush making contact with 5 brass contacts? If so, it's similar to "shoot dem bones" for which I designed an electronic control unit to replace the cumbersome and dangerous mains control system. I may also sell it as a kit one...

If it's any consolation. mine is exactly the same (its on single coin play) and usually has sod all in the cash tin, even though the payout tube never empties. The comment you made about the escalator: I thought originally on the 2 pulls per coin system, the "coin detector" bar had two pin...

Most of the Governors I used to refurbish for the fairs had a spinner on one of the first cherry's or the TIC symbol.

I havn't worked out the odds but it must be around 20% less payout.
