Re: Bryans Gapwin Project

So, as suspected, the Gapwin is an early one being produced in the first 5 months of 1956 :-)

Are you still touring the arcade? Was hoping to see you at Elvaston Steam Fair, a couple of weeks ago.
Yes we are mainly doing paid jobs at the moment. The arcade is next out at Moira Furnace, Swadlincote, Derbyshire on 30th July :-)

Re: Bryans Gapwin Project

So, no messing about here……cabinet stripped, woodwork sanded and refinished sympathetically, don't want it looking brand new and want to retain some of those marks that document its working life. Brights part that could not be polished up are off Derby Platers this morning, should be about 2 months ...

Re: Bryans Gapwin Project

Cheers Bryans fan, I hoped you would have the answers :-). I think its an early machine as the thumb stop under the payout knob is in the wood of the door rather than in the moulding.

Re: Bryans Gapwin Project

Will take it all down to them and see what they say, fingers crossed. :-) This is the Gapwin I had, hope this helps. Good luck on the chrome plating as it is now very expensive, the one I used in Manchester has now stopped re chroming as many have seemed to do Many thanks for the pics Alan, yours lo...

Bryans Gapwin Project

Greetings. It’s been a while since I posted with a new project for the Arcade so here we go…. I have acquired a Gapwin and will be completely refurbing due to its rather “worked” and tired appearance. IMG_6001a.jpg IMG_6002a.jpg IMG_5999a.jpg IMG_6003a.jpg Firstly, can anyone here with a Gapwin plea...

Re: Operator dilemma: old Pennies or Tokens?

Update on the tokens situation. I have found an engineering company that is looking into the costings for me to have a die made and batches of tokens stamped. Over Easter I lost so many coins it’s becoming ridiculous now. At one point we saw people Googling the coins on their phones and pocketing on...

Great to be back online. It’s amazing how much you miss something you take for granted when it’s suddenly not there! Thanks to those behind-the-scenes for their hard work.

Re: Re-chroming price hike

Or save your money and leave original with its use history……your chrome did not look terrible I agree original looks nice, however when it’s rusty and sharp and the public are using it, I have to rechrome. The picture does not really show the true extent of the rust :-( 6BE7CA35-BCD6-42C1-959E-3254...

Re-chroming price hike

Topic merged - Site Admin. I am in the middle of restoring my latest 3 ball win (see pic) and today took all of the door chrome to the usual re-chromer. Expecting to pay a bit more than the last time I visited I had to sit down when the bill came to £378. They have had to add a 15% surcharge for in...

Re: Levitating Lady

This one? Courtesy of Darren Hesketh's Penny-In-The-Slot Automata and the Working Model (p145). The Miracle Man, c. 1953. An amazing feat of levitation is performed, during which the Miracle Man sits up, turns his head around and waves. The automaton may have originally been cased by Modern Enterpr...

Bryans Tencup win award info

I am researching my Tencup win and want to ask if the graphic under the winning cups always said 'WIN' or were they changed to numbers if you adjusted to multi payout? Thanks to Bryans Fan for the upload of the original round payout info. I have made a mock up but need to resize before pasting onto ...

Where are all the Bryans Allwin Machines…….?

Whilst I understand that since starting to collect, prices have gone mad, there seems to be a real slow down of machines advertised for sale. Do we think this is because people are holding onto them in the hope prices will go even higher, or maybe there is just a shortage of machines coming to marke...
