Thank you tammy.

Long stored Mills mech reels don't spin

Just bought a couple of very long stored bandits off ebay. On one, after cleaning and oiling, the reels spin a little but not enough. Any ideas, as I have spent a lot of time cleaning and trying to oil? The handle that you push down to make the mech run also seems to stop down each time you operate,...

Re: Why so many Jennings Governors....?

Hi Cheeky, yes lots of Jennings Governors at £25 each takes your pick... All you need is a time machine - have you got one? If you have, then quite a number of collectors on this site will be in touch with you now asking you if you would bring them some back... cash on delivery of course!! Ps. If yo...

Jennings Governor problems

Post moved & merged - Site Admin. Hi Cheeky, you ask why so many Jennings Governors? The answer is simply the fact that they were in the thousands of clubs, holiday pavilions, and working men's clubs throughout Great Britain. Especially in the ordinary working man's club one always graced you o...

Re: Are Bryans machines overrated??

Yes it's interesting how market trends change. The first time that I had started collecting what would be later known as vintage slot machines I called at a well known arcade at Scarborough. It was 1972 or 73 and I talked with the owner if he had any of the old machines in storage and that I was int...

Re: Are Bryans machines overrated??

Some of the details and especially numbers of machines quoted to have been made in the Braithwaite's slot machine book I believe need to be not taken too serious. It's a good book and gives good general knowledge but accurate it isn't always. A good example is the large Win a Cig or Fag. They are th...

Re: Are Bryans machines over rated??

I suppose it's funny how we all like different machines. I have always found machines like the Bryans Allsports, the Payramid and Double Decker, to name just three, as somewhat boring... even in the old arcade days I did. Whereas.. the Watling Rol a Top bandits, I loved them when I was a young boy. ...

Re: Are Bryans machines over rated??

Yes, you are right about the Bryan's inventiveness! Also I have thought since writing I should have included the Bryans Clock and Fruit Bowl in the ones that I do really like. As for price, I am not convinced that they will always keep some of the very high amounts that they change hands for at the ...

Are Bryans machines overrated??

Bryan's machines are they overrated in price? Does anyone else think like me over the years that Bryans machines, although liked like other vintage amusement machines, are seen by some as a Rolls Royce in the vintage slots world and fetch really high prices. Here is my reasoning behind what I have f...

Re: Oliver Whales allwin with '9 Results' flash

Well the party has now come and gone and it is a memory... The children seemed to enjoy the machines! Interesting looking back, I think these old machines are best enjoyed how they were meant, ie not on the floor, but fastened on a wall at a convenient height! I realize looking back that I spent too...

Re: Oliver Whales allwin with '9 Results' flash

We took a couple of machines to one of their birthday parties two years ago and one of the young lads coming again to this one has asked if they could definitely have penny machines there again because he enjoyed them so much! Last time it was a Rotolite and a Clement and Whales Greyhound Stadium.. ...

Re: Oliver Whales allwin with '9 Results' flash

Hi badpenny nice to hear from you again! Yes I am well pleased and agree it does give you a good feeling as you look at what the machine is now. I have already cut the back out of spare plywood from my shed. Also I have done two smaller pieces as we are taking them to a birthday party in about a wee...

Re: Oliver Whales allwin with '9 Results' flash

Thank you for all your comments. It's come back to life again today, taking the old pennies and delivering the ball and was even paying out 2 coins for a win. Earlier today I had to straighten out a rather bent payout slide in my vice, and then found the bar linkage to it needed straightening. Seems...

Re: Oliver Whales allwin with '9 Results' flash

No win hole under the blackflash coppinpr, the door and inner workings seem to have been a 1930s type machine. It has the clicking win knob but some bits now missing. Possibly an Oliver Whales conversion or some owner has done it. I will show internal parts at a later day. I am not worried about it ...

Re: Oliver Whales allwin with '9 Results' flash

The Evapo-rust ordered off ebay never came as the company ran out and refunded my money... Will have to try its merits in the new year now as I have used white vinegar and baking soda and left itbon in 30 min runs till I rinse off with warm water and an old toothbrush and cloths. Results quite good ...
