Re: 'Permit for Single Machine Supply'
Seriously though. Thanks for the info coppinpr. Iv'e also been informed via my forensic contacts at the University that there is an algorithm in use by UK police forces which monitors trends in mobile phone activity and was originally set-up to monitor terrorist cells but can also used to locate the...

Re: 'Permit for Single Machine Supply'
It is far easier for governments to create rumors which induce paranoia among the people. I doubt that our cash-strapped forces have the capability, or indeed the resources to monitor every internet transmission and then send round a bunch of special Op's, armed with anti-terror grenades whenever so...

Re: 'Permit for Single Machine Supply'
Ha! Indeed you have a point about Ebay Dave, But only if their automated sell-a-bot detects an illegal activity! I hope you can all see this link, but I managed to sell a fully working explosives detonator on Ebay, which is SO against Ebay policy: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131165936387?ssPageName=ST...

Re: Jennings Governor lock and re chrome help
Indeed, I think it's slightly irresponsible of them to show these videos, and I'm sure that guy makes it look easier than it is (I wonder how many out-takes there are?). Traditionally, locksmithery used to be an almost taboo trade, with the techniques passed on from locksmith to locksmith in the for...

Re: Jennings Governor lock and re chrome help
Can I just point out that these tools will not magically "open any lock instantly" like a master key. They will only assist you to open basic machine locks without destroying them. Even then they require some dexterity and patience, and some might not even open at all. Most household secur...

Re: Jennings Governor lock and re chrome help
Regarding your comment about opening tubular locks. I bought this curious little gadget to add to my arsenal of urban warfare tools, with the lame excuse of "I collect vintage slot machines and might need to open one of the locks". This, and the "Dyno Quick Pick" (for straight tu...

Re: Bell Fruit "Flowers Brewery" slot machine
For goodness sake people - make sure none of those mains connections are exposed. It only takes a coin to short out the mains to the case and you're looking at a potentially lethal accident. I find whenever mains is involved on a machine of this age which is going to be played a lot that it's better...

Re: Bryans Fivewin, Elevenses, adjustable payouts
There was no mention in the video of the "Variable Pressure Unit" used on Bryans machines in the 50's. That's the gear-wheel which advances one step with every win. In turn this adjusts the tension of the flicker spring by a small amount (the overall tension being user selectable via a sho...

Re: A letter to eBay UK?
Just a thought, forgive me if I've missed anything here but if the complaints are centred around the sellers not having an appropriate gaming license then maybe the complainant does possess such a license and feels aggrieved that he pays X amount each year whilst others appear to "get away with...

Re: A letter to eBay UK?
I agree with slotalot, in that Ebay has become too commercial for its own good, and for that of collectors. Far too many people are using Ebay sale prices as a guide to the value of collectables. For example: I have a "cocktail" style pin-table which was made in limited numbers and an even...

Re: Bally Electro Mechanical owners
I've never really been into Ballys as a collector (although I've repaired a few). I saved that payout cup from the old Bally cabinet as I thought it would come in useful for a change machine or something and I've just taken a look at it and it's actually narrower that the one in the picture, but the...

Thanks for clarifying that, I can't remember where I read it now but I will find out.

Re: Bally Electro Mechanical owners
The "Money Honey" types seem to be the rare original ones. They should have a separate, small payout tray about the size of an ashtray (as opposed to most of them which span across the width of the door and form part of the casting). I think it was bolted to the wooden case below the door....

Re: I see the light
I see a few people have made comments on this thread about the polarity of the LED's. As a C&G qualified electronics engineer in the amusement machine trade I was particularly interested in kitting out my 1989 Gottlieb pin-table with LED'S. The benefits are: *Up to 90% Energy Savings Over Incand...

Re: Magnetic coins
According to the Royal Mint website it says: "As a result of the rising price of base metals, the composition of 1p and 2p coins was changed from bronze to copper-plated steel in 1992. Since then all 1p and 2p coins intended for circulation have been struck in copper-plated steel, with the exce...

Magnetic coins
This is old news really but the Royal Mint has announced that all new coins will now contain some iron in the alloy material so they will all be sticking to coin mechanism magnets (on machines which take new currency). I remember when Stein Slots was in it's heyday some people didn't realise that ne...

Re: Sega Bell Escalator - component missing?
While we are on the subject of unnecessary levers which seem to do nothing: There are another set of linkages and levers on the side of the Sega and post 1946 Mills mechs which disable the payouts by preventing the peckers from dropping into the reel discs. They can be a right pain and you often fin...
