Couple of points. Firstly, I presume there are two metal deflectors, one each end of the gantry target. It may be possible to adjust the position of these by losening the screws which hold them on the backboard. By mnoving them a little it may alter on some occasions how often the ball ends up in th...

Actually, when you think about it, 4500 plus is a fair old number. If 5 were sold to an arcade, there'd be Bryans allwins in 900 arcades. Don't know how many gapwins there are. There were 6 basic allwins and 3 three ball machines, so thats nine machines in total. If an equal number were made that wo...

It would certainly satisfy demand if there were that many gapwins about! The numbering system was for total allwin production and they started from number 101. Bryans produced around 4500+ allwins, so your number gives you some idea as to when it was probably produced; as a guess I'd reckon early 60...

There will be a 'kicker plate' which hits a cog at the side of the reels to cause them to spin when the handle is pulled. You could check to see if the plate is interacting with the cog relating to the sticking reel (if it doesn't then obviously this would cause it to remain stationary).

It isn't necessary to strip the machine down. All you need to do is to slide the new glass into the front door frame. Open the door and look at the door frame from the top; you should see the gap into which the glass slides (which is in front of the playfield). You ought to be able to measure the di...

Looks a lot like my broadband connection... except it's bigger, so this must be the deluxe version.

Forgot to mention, the Bryans allwins came with one of each of these slides; the second one was usually attached to the back of the mech board by a red screw.

There are two different thicknesses of coin slide. The thinner one dispenses 1 D the thicker one dispenses 2 D. By combining these two slides and altering the bracket which attaches to the maze at the rear of the mechanism you can enable the machine to make the various payout combinations.

Yes, this is a Bmco. I've seen this one before. They did a few with a variety of backflashes such as the one show here (where the case has been supplemented with blocks of wood to accentuate the art deco effect).

I think we need to put you on to the AAM (Antique amusement magazine). You should send them a subscription, oh, and they have a shop too. I think you will find that this is where you need to be.

Okay, see the numbers now. Shame that they only go up to 800; 801 is the crucial part, you'll never get it working.

Best advice I can give is to go onto a pinball website and ask if anyone tell you how build one from scratch

Yes, can definitely help you; just put some numbers on and I'll get right back to you. Again, I always prefer that this will lead to lots more questions. Once I've finished with advice on the Rolex we will have a watch so that I can see how much time I spend giving all this advice! :?

Hi David, I will to try and answer your questions in turn. However, I think as you start to understand one part, you will find that this raises more questions as to how other actions in the machine occur. So, before I answer the specific questions you raised, here is a basic description of how you c...

I think it has something do to with the law of diminishing returns. Funnily enough, same rule applies to playing slot machines, as I never seem to get back quite what I have put in

I will try and explain. Vertical bar 3 is linked by 10 to the payout handle. However, bar 8 by being against 7 stops the payout handle from moving bar 3 . When a ball enters a winning cup it falls into area 11 and rests upon bar 4 . Bar 4 then tilts and the vertical rod connected from 4 to 8 , cause...

Hi David, maybe this will help you. Using the latest picture of the mechanism you posted on the forum, this is how the mechanism works. On the right of the picture is a bar which runs vertically almost the whole length of the back of the machine. At the bottom of this vertical bar is a link to the p...

The ball release mechanism should be inside the back of the machine if it follows the vending version.
