Re: Merkur

The Merkur is finally done. Not perfect, but good. I have really enjoyed doing this machine. The wood had gone and the mech just solid with rust after being under a bench for 30 years. My biggest regret is not being able to get hold of some new reel tins. The ones on it are usable curtesy of Treefro...

Re: I'd like to know a little bit more about these two machines

There was a Head Ball in Mablethorpe in the 70s. I can't quite remember which arcade at the minute. Likely Jacksons Radio. Played it a few times.

Re: Re-chromed shiny bits

In the last 12 months I have had quite a number of items chromed and the results are as follows... RSChrome Failsworth Manchester. This is not too far from me so I dropped off the parts from a Clubmaster. They took just over 4 months to turn the items round and did tell me on two occasions they were...

Mills Deluxe

This is my latest purchase. The bloke I got it from says it is a Tom Boland machine. Does that mean Mr Boland bought the mechanism from Mills and made his own case or is it an American bandit re-cased? He also said it was '50s, but to me it looks '60s. Any info on age or history would be welcome. It...

New Reel Tins

I need some new reel tins (Mills type) for a restoration. I ordered some and a good quantity of springs from MrSlot in the states back in November. These have yet to arrive and despite emailing and at first getting replies with apologies I have not had them and think I will have to write off my mone...

Re: Mech removal

Thanks BP. Now you say it goes over the top of the bit circled it looks more obvious the handle isn't up high enough....

Mech removal

I have just got my first Jubilee and I can't get the mech out....
The part circled is stopping it coming out. I have tried some grips on it assuming it moves out the way but it wont budge. What am I missing?

Am I missing something here?

Topic moved & merged - Site Admin. This Machine sold today for £1050 plus commission taking it to just over £1300. I was ready to bid and thought my 500 plus commission would seal it. Is is not just a Mills High top with a added front bit? Is it rare? I assumed it would be a copy as Brooklands ...

Charrington / Mills Bandit

I was watching this Charrington bandit on a auction and have a question about it.... This looks like a Mills Hi Top to me but I guess it is a copy. Was this made in the UK from Mills parts or were the parts made in the UK under license from mills, by who, or is there another story? Where is the Char...

Readers Lives'

Reading through some posts the other day I found one from a member questioning why we seem reluctant to put photos of our collections on here. I am going to rectify that by posting a photo of my small collection and I will wait for the many fantastic photos to appear. I did have many more but fell o...

I don't really need it to shine, just get the stains out.

How do I clean this?

Just wondered if anyone knows a way to get this part back to looking good? I have tried very fine wet and dry but that left a mat finish. I have tried abrasive polish as in T-cut but that didn't do much. I am sure someone on here has restored this type of metal before.....

Re: Decorative edge trim for an Exacta

So finally I have finished my Exacta with the new case I have made. I am quite pleased with it as wood work is not my first skill. I think the trim looks great. It took ages to put on as the corners would cause the bit before and after to lift so had to clamp the strip down as I fitted it.

I spent a lot of money in Jackson's back in the late 60s and 70s. I bet I played that machine.
