Re: British Stamp Vending Machines

I paid £100 for mine and was in a better condition, £500 is way too much considering there's no stamps with it.

Re: British Stamp Vending Machines

New addition to the collection, a working late 1960s G1 type stamp vending machine. The G1 version took over from the stamp vender that only delivered one stamp at a time. On inserting a 1/-, you got 5 stamps (2D 2D 3D 1D and 4D) The stamp coil was designed that even if the machine malfunctioned, wh...

Re: Bryan's track: what's the alternative to chroming?

Ok, all the re chroming quotes are now in, ranging from £120 - £530
I will probably go for the one that has done work for me before at £250 all in.
If he makes a good job, it could be a good contact to have if anyone else requires chrome plating in the future.

Re: Bryan's track: what's the alternative to chroming?

It just sounded a lot of money for a number of small parts, I must admit that particular chrome plater did a good job on a Bryan's clock that I had refurbished a number of years ago.

Re: Bryan's track: what's the alternative to chroming?

Just got my first estimate in for re chroming the parts in the picture :o I think the estimator must have thought of a number, then doubled it, then take away the age of his wife and add 3. My first estimate is £195 plus delivery, no wonder some machines being sold on a certain online auction site a...

Bryan's track: what's the alternative to chroming?

tracka.jpg Before I go down the expense of re chroming the track, what if any is an alternative? Yes I could leave the track as it is, but as you can see it's badly rusted. So is there an alternative finish to the track, has anyone rubbed the track down to a smooth shiny finish and then left it, or...

Removal of the pin in the trigger hammer

Been trying to remove the pin in the trigger hammer of a Bryan's Elevenses today, the bloody thing stuck fast and won't budge, as I don't want to shear the pin in the hammer, just wanted to know, does anyone know if the pin is screwed in or just tapped in. Soaked it in WD40, so hopefully should make...

Mills wing nut gone missing

Whilst degreasing and cleaning up my current renovation, a Mills Hi Top, when cleaning it with a wire wheel brush, the wing nut unscrewed itself and escaped for freedom. I've hunted high and low, and can't find the bloody thing now :!?!: Sods law it will be an American thread, so the English wing nu...

What was this lever used for on my Mills Hi Top

Two questions 1 - Can anyone tell me what the lever was used for on my Mills Hi Top, as my other Hi Tops don't have this lever. 2 - The other picture shows the arm that flicks the coin from the top of the coin tube into the jackpot. The arm is too short, doesn't even fit into the grove at the top of...

Re: What screw size was used for the Mills Escalator

May have been an obvious answer to you JC, but up until today, I had never heard of ANC or ANF.
Thanks for the information.
Does any one have any spare ANC or ANF screws they may want to sell.

What screw size was used for the Mills Escalator

Can any tell me the correct size of the small screw that held the Mills Coin escalator together. There should be approx 12 small round headed slotted screws. The one I am working on only has 5!!, the rest are missing. Ive tried using a 5/32 BSW screw and its too small, and I've tried a 3/16 BSW scre...

Re: Glass thickness for Mills Hi Top jackpot window

Hi Keith
It's a fine line what tension the spring should be for the coin flap to work correctly. I was thinking if all else fails to disconnect the spring and to load the reserve jackpot manually.

Re: Glass thickness for Mills Hi Top jackpot window

Thanks for your help, new laminated glass now fitted. Whilst on the subject on Mills Jackpots, the ones I have that work on 6d and 1d have a tendency to overfill themselves on the reserve jackpot, so when the jackpot is won there seems to be too many coins in the reserve jackpot resulting in it jamm...

Glass thickness for Mills Hi Top jackpot window

I'm in the process of renovating another Mills Hi Top, a Black Beauty version, with jackpot. On replacing the cracked glass in the Jackpot window, I noticed the thickness was around 6mm (2 plain pieces laminated together?) Does the glass need to be as thick as this, or can I get away with one 3 mm p...
