Re: Horse Racing Game (Jeu de Course)

It reminds me of the man who owned the axe used by George Washington for his nefarious deeds. It was original apart from the 3 new handles and 2 new heads.

Re: Horse Racing Game

This guy (or homme) sure likes his cold bluing. I have used it as well, with great success. It's a quick and easy rust preventer for steel parts. He does frighten me a bit with his blow torch though. Lovely job but might be a little over-restored for some tastes. I thought I had better comment becau...

Re: Jennings Governor jackpot and reel symbol queries

I thought I would have a look on Abebooks to see if the book was available there. Now I know why you say at a reasonable cost - sellers want from £77 plus £28 for postage from the US. I hope you find a better deal.

Yep it's started again here too. Perhaps it was just a glitch and I'm paranoid.

Re: Vintage Slots in Films and Newsreels

Would you believe that the one minute clip from the 'Farewell my lovely' has been pulled for copyright reasons? It only showed a short scene where Robert Mitchum was in a penny arcade. Copyright restrictions have gone mad it seems.

Re: Vintage Slots in Films and Newsreels

Here's a short clip of Robert Mitchum as Philip Marlow in 'Farewell my Lovely' when he visits a Penny Arcade after the usual shoot out. I like the look of that baseball game.

Is that Schrödinger's cat? You don't know if it's alive or dead, or maybe even both.

Re: Beromat Mech - Question

One thing I’d say though, were all Beromats as stingy on payouts as mine? I stuck 100 pennies through it and never hit a ten win once. Must have had a low payout percentage, which I’m surprised would pass UK avg. percentage payout. Maybe in Germany things weren’t the same. As treefrog says, the poo...

Re: Beromat Mech - Question

Take your courage in both hands and strip it down and clean it. They really aren't so bad to work on (usually) but if something is broken it's as well to know before it causes more damage.

I could spend my whole holiday there - just sleeping on the floor! What a shame you are so very far away. Such a games room is just a fantasy to us poor limeys.

I would be interested in buying the machine on the left if anyone knows where the penny goes.

I don't suppose it matters 'cos nobody is going to buy at these prices. Or maybe there is some fool out there who believes the hype.

Font looks similar to Bahnschrift Light SemiCondensed but Arial Narrow is a good approximation too.

Has anyone had success with chrome powder coating? It looks like a good finish but I wonder how durable (and expensive) it is.

Re: Bajazzo Clown wall machines

martynbr they are 1.2mm thick but, as sweetmeats says, it probably would be cheaper to buy the originals, unless you know a very helpful mechanic who could stamp them out for you.. They do come up on Ebay from time to time at about 50p each. Isn't it amazing that machines of around 100 years old are...

Re: Bajazzo Clown wall machines

The tokens are around 17.5mm diameter as you can see from an example from my machine. I've also uploaded a photo of my restored Clown so you can see the text of all the labels on it. (Pretty sure I've done this before.) It should be easy enough to make a copy using any computer drawing package. Look...

Re: Vertical and horizontal fingers - Aristocrat Mad Melons

Isn't the Dog and Anvil the pub where Mad Melons works behind the bar? If you go in there, watch out for Bearing Caps as he's a bit of a kicker especially when he's well oiled.
