Anyone for Kiddie Rides?

Saw these on ebay (181020188503) job lot of about 150 bases in Louth, Lincolnshire, apparently all in working order. Must be reminiscent of scenes when the old mechanical machines were dumped in the 1970s in favour of electro amusements, and steam engines dumped in 1960s in favour of diesel/electric...

Re: Jentsch & Meerz Simplex catcher

I notice that in virtually all these photos, there is a metal lock plate presumably to help prevent forcing the lock. As these plates are the same I am wondering whether this is an indication that these machines are all from the same manufacturer

Re: A small arcade in Sheringham

did arcades ever charge to use their machines Jerry wrote an interesting article in MMM (issue 17) a few years ago about kinetoscopes and talked about kinetoscope parlours whereby he states that 'Patrons were charged twenty five dollars to view all the machines in one row' Not exectly an arcade but...

I get totally peed off with the US election coverage over here in England, I wonder how much air time is spent on US tv covering our elections.

Still I always maintain that America has got the best politicians money can buy. '!'

Re: Bijou or Bajazzo Catcher

Hi Treefrog, not sure about this one. I have seen one before but in a bit of a state - see first two pics. These may have been genuine conversions of the original catchers - see third and forth pics, although if that was the case, then the doors would have been replaced, as the 'cig' one show no inf...

Hi Martin, looks good. I have used the very small pots (14ml) of enamel paint that you can get from model shops. The Revell green No 61 is a good match. Humbrol also do a good green as well.

Re: Wondermatics "Pools": Locks which fit this machine?

As 13rebel says, usually the top lock is a small one without a ring and the cash door lock is a larger Yale type lock, as in pics below (both taken from ebay):

Very different and certainly not something I would do but, saying that, I think the lights actually go with the clown - there is a circus feel about it that matches the Pilwin character.

Stevenson and Lovett Fourth Bridge

Is this an original Stevenson and Lovett but altered, looks like a good repro job to me - the 'use old pennies' sign is obviously not original - seller is asking £1250

Here is another one Jonathan, slightly different than Slotalots pic but you will probably be able to figure out how the payout is made, but as Badpenny said it would be interesting to see your innovative solution. If you are interested there is the annual slotty auction at Coventry next month (25th ...
