Re: 60s gaming machine

Hi Wook
Be careful with this machine-All the relays are exposed and work on mains voltage-make sure the machine is disconnected before touching anything inside.and check that all exposed metalwork is earthed.
If you can locate a circuit diagram it should be easy to fix

Re: The most valuable slot machine in the UK?

The Chrystal Palace exhibition ran from 1st May 1851 for just 6 months in Hyde park. In 1852 the building was dismantled and re-erected on Sydenham Hill where it ran from 1854 until the fire in 1936.Apparently in later years the palace became increasingly scruffy and was little used. Some of the con...

Re: The Peter Simper Stabilizer Revealed

This stabilizer is very similar to the reflex unit used in the bally bingos from the 1950s to control the percentage
The Bally unit had a range of stepper wheels with different numbers of teeth which could be fitted to alter the percentage

Two plays for 10p is not really an option as I think it would pay out more than goes in.

Re: Bally Haunted Mansion (Photoshop or similar help )

To remove the belly glass there are four screws on the inside you need to remove. Then pull the belly glass and frame forward at the top and lift out of the bottom channel it sits in.Take off the three sided frame which surrounds the glass and lift out the glass. This is a five minute job on a clean m...

Re: Re-Chrome

I looked into the possibilities of chrome plating many years ago and at that time it was not a practical proposition as the chemicals used were very hazardous. However i obtained the canning plating handbook and realised that nickel plating could be done at home quite easily. This gives a dull hard f...

Re: Old electrics in machines

Well... I think I am going to be in the minority here, but I like to keep machines as original as possible. In fifty years, I have worked on hundreds of machines and I can't ever remember having to replace a transformer. Replace any wiring with hard, frayed or cracked insulation. Make sure all metal...

Re: Getting so much done ..

You've made a lovely job of that machine BP. I know nothing about the 1920s Mills Puritan Bell... BUT many years ago, when I was working on Bally bingos, I came across some original ones with two cash-boxes. One box for the operator and one for the site owner, who had his own key. What's more, the p...

Re: Anyone got some brass tubing?

Chronos engineering supplies have brass tube up to 1 inch which should be OK for 10p coin. Mallard metal packs are also very helpful and stock a vast range of stuff. They have helped me with brass and stainless tube in the past .You will find both with a google search.

Re: Bryan's Flecked Paint Style

There used to be a paint called Portafleck which did the job in one spray coat. I don't know how it worked exactly but I think it was a base colour with the coloured specks somehow suspended in it which made their way to the surface on application. Maybe one part was water based and one part oil bas...

It's the top off a jukebox remote selector (wall box).

Possibly Seeburg from the 1950s.

Re: Metal backflash - steel or ali?

As far as I know all backflashes were made from aluminium sheet, never seen one made from stainless steel. I've been told that it's possible to replicate the engine turned or circular swirl pattern by mounting a cork in a pillar drill and producing the pattern using fine valve grinding paste (as use...

years ago i had some Bally Bingos with looms and woodwork which were oil soaked. Looking at the front plate again... it looks like it may have been cut from a piece of anodised aluminium sheet.
