Re: Chicagoland

You are one of a kind. Yes JP, prototype that never took off. :burp: Been busy on the Keeney organ speaker from the US haul. Decided to go ahead and finish the damn thing properly by adding back the lost base trim. Incomplete cool stuff is like a red rag to me that's for sure! !!RANT!! Very rare so...

Re: Buckley Jewel Box Digger

Gamblingman, sounds like you might need to invest in some of this product or the like, Click here for link Edited to add external link BP I've had huge success with it copying some very important parts as no shrinkage in the mold. And especially when I was just visiting fellow collectors with simili...

Re: British Rifle Range

Was talking to super collector Bob Klepner the other day and he tells me these rifles were operated and probably also manufactured by the Atlas Scale & Machine Co in Aust. He got the info many years ago from a surviving employee.

Re: Little Stockbroker (Cricketers) advice and views please

Coppin, I find about 95% of the time all the finish details you'll need should be there to find under layers of later paint, grime and age. Just means taking the time to carefully try different methods to remove and find the clues. And often while doing this I'm sometimes actually able to find salva...

Re: Pig in a Poke? You decide

Just found this JP while looking around eBay for the first time in ages: 3 x BUSSOZ GIROUETTE PARIS 50'S METAL FAIRGROUND SIGNS
Pity you missed it, as according to the seller one of the plates was the original Girouette name plate turned backwards, which is exactly what my Pin Up Girl had!

Re: Circle Skill

I quite like it too for some reason! Actually have been toying with the idea of making my own version from scratch, but with a difference. I liked to see how long I could keep the ball in the pinfield with my origianl versions, up to 45 secs or so on a good play. Sooo I'm thinking a mechanical timer...

Re: vintage plywood source

bp - YES! Don't get me started about these lazy bastards......oop, now you've done it. Seems to me they want the best of everything and don't expect to get a finger dirty or find a stepping stone out of place - otherwise their world stops!

vintage plywood source

I think a little while back PM asked about sourcing old style ply for restoring the backs of allwins etc. I collect it whenever i can from trashed furniture, was used as backing and bottoms on almost everything from 1920's to 70's. Is exactly what was used by the slot makers and has the perfect look...

Re: Mills Operator Bell identified

I have to say though without knowing that much about bandits that I'd give the unrestored machine a lot more credit for having the original frame than the restored version. Since those smaller repro parts have been so freely available from dealers for the last 30+ years I think a lot of restorers pr...

Re: British Rifle Range

Chris, Glad to help. BP, after inserting a Penny into the side of the rifle you reset the mech much like a Winchester Repeater, by cocking the lever action down, think John Wayne in any western. This lifts up a rod with a hinged plate at the bottom of the cabinet. There is a spring pointer under tha...

Re: British Rifle Range

Hi Chris, could this be what you're talking about? These are 1920s or '30s Aussie made copies of the earlier English Electric Rifle/pistol ranges. There is a highly restored red example floating around in the US somewhere after having come out of New Zealand in the 2000s (shown here in old red paint...

Re: Mystery Machine - Pub game?

That's crazy! Nobody would stick 220 /240 v input lugs outside like that without some way to isolate - like a bakelite plug fitting. Had to be a battery.

Don't suppose you have a photo Jingle, to amaze the seller with?

Re: Chicagoland

But seriously JP, I owe you big time for all the machines you allowed me to ship home! As you know they are few and far between here in any condition. And enough future work to keep me busy for quite a while. And there will be a bunch of Aussie collectors down the road that will be very happy to own...

Re: Chicagoland

JP, too little too late. She badly needs servicing, and the kind of touch only an expert can offer. I won't be letting her slip through my hands. I think the saying here is "A fool and his treasure are easily parted?" And Mr PM, I feel so sad for you roughing it over there in the UK, the c...

Re: Chicagoland

Thanks lepingouin, great advert! And amazingly I just shipped home a set of alloy Roovers legs in this load but they are the short version for a stamper (dammit - shaking fist) . The long legs that I'm sure these were copied from were only used on the Roovers automatons like the Puss in Boots so the...

Yeah Tree, I pack like Tetris, I don't like to either waste space or chance damaging anything fragile /semi-fragile like coin cups or triggers etc.

Believe it or not I went out of my way not to buy much on this trip.

Re: Chicagoland

Thanks Slot, very bloody useful! It's funny but the photos of messed up machines are usually a lot more helpful because you can see what's going on under the paint etc.
