Re: Gold changers

The drawer on the bottom had a separate lock and needed to be unlocked to collect the gold coins! If wanted I can add a photo showing the top. Not too difficult to make if a cabinet maker, but if like me, impossible!

Re: Elephant House Auctions

Such sad news have known Gloria for more than 25 years a lovely lady, not only as an auctioneer also as barmaid on the ill-fated pier, dinner companion with Steve and on many visits to her house for tea. Will so greatly missed.

Re: Clown Catcher, info please

I have just caught up with this post and hope the following will help. A lot of the observations seem to be correct, firstly the machine is English not French, secondly it is I believe a rare Handan Ni machine. I am posting pictures of my machine, which you can see the ball launch on yours seems to ...

Re: The Late Maurice Felce

I also remember Maurice from the Saffron auction times and all auction venues after. He and his wife came to the "slotties day out" organised by Jerry in Brighton - a most enjoyable day. A lovely couple and very sad news. I agree it is hard to believe it is 13 years ago they left.

Re: Have you seen what we mustn't talk about?

What price the Green Ray? Far better than the Morphy machine that sold for $5,500 hammer! We will see tomorrow, but £2/400 unlikely to buy it!!!

Re: Mutoscope lens

Thank you to gameswat for alerting everyone that the advert was not what it seemed. I posted it in good faith thinking it was "what it said on the packet". As no expert on this, I am glad it was spotted so quickly and trust no one tried to buy one.

Re: Burstow and Hewlett Sale

I viewed the auction on Monday the Caille was in need of considerable work and missing significant parts which I would think could only be found in the USA . The footballer was described as Doughty and Barret as the auctioneer was told this by an "expert" in Hastings. I have seen four of t...

Re: Victorian wall hanging circus astrology game machine

I did know about this machine being back up for auction. I was also kindly made aware of it by fellow member. When I bid previously I had not seen the machine as was in Derby. This time much closer to home and had three weeks notice so went to view it the day before the auction. First impressions it...

Re: Pat Gresham

Got the news this morning so very sad. First met Pat about 15 years ago and visited her about eight or ten times over the next ten years. Each machine I bought I would send pictures of the restored machine which she liked to see. She was a generous and kind host and certainly had an interesting and ...
