Re: Dingles Fairground Museum

It will be interesting to see how much of the fairground stuff ends up on display and wonder if the amusement arcade will move as well… Time will tell… Still, gives me an excuse for a short break on the motorbike to Devon and Somerset.

Re: Extraordinary Escalator

Mills used a spacer like below on most on their machines. Theoretically you can get away without, but need thicker glass otherwise the jackpot will have a gap. You are missing the token arm that is in the mechanism. Was this mechanism originally on this machine? If not, it may not support one, as th...

Dingles Fairground Museum

With rumours about the long term future of Dingles having been around for a while, I see a formal announcement was made yesterday. The site closes at the end of this season in October. Part of it is moving to railway museum in Staffs and rest into storage in another museum in Hampshire. For years I ...

Re: a tricky ID question for the Gurus

I was thinking the cabinet looks similar and has the same badge at the top, but looking closely it looks like there’s is a possible allwin door or game in it, as you can see spandrels, gallery and spiral track, unless my eyes are playing up again.

Re: a tricky ID question for the Gurus

Looks like a Matthewsons Mermaid case target game, if real and a Big Game next to it.

The Bryan’s is an All Sports.

Can’t see back properly.

Jingle,

That is the best looking 2 player game ever.

I reckon the Polo is an Ahrens machine looking at the controls… Why don’t machines like this fall on my lap? :#:

I wonder if it is an Essex football machine looking at controls, but don’t think they did a Polo...

If cheap, snap up, even if just for parts… Lotta work there.

Re: Broken bottom slide

It is a safety slide. So as long as it is held back by the safety lever, the answer is no….

Can’t see the break. Is it on the left? Looks still together.

Yes, must be a later version of the Hellomat and, as you say, a conversion. Maybe the change vendor was added.

Re: John Taylors slot machine auction: 12/03/24

Yes, I understand the right hand glass was cracked as well I haven’t bothered with many of the recent auctions up north, but decided to take a chance and went up early today, leaving at 5am to get into Louth at 8.30… Their website said they opened at 9am, so hoped a quick glimpse before the auction ...

Re: The march of the woodworm

Not to worry, it's only blue asbestos !!ESCAPE!! To be honest I really thought it was some kind of asbestos and ran when sticking my hand through the side…… A large beetle larvae was living in it as well…Fortunately it was just wood dust. I don’t mind taking on projects like this and probably will ...

The march of the woodworm

With my endless list of projects of machines bought in a past era, I wonder if this was the worst woodworm attack I had had to deal with..... initially there was a small hole, but as I prodded the paint clouds if dust rose in the air......I could not tell what the material was as dud nit look like w...

Re: Ebay prices getting out of hand

In reality "reserves" are a waste of time. If the item isn't going to be sold under that price then start the auction at that price. If it doesn't sell, the result is the same. Isn’t that what a reserve is !PUZZLED! I now always use SENSIBLE reserves on machines, as I have been caught out...

Thanks for sharing. Funny, I cannot find a serial number on the castings mentioned on mine. The only place each of mine have them are the steel base the mechanism slides onto and the mechanism base plate, which all match: numbers 167, 173, 174 and 184, all from same arcade… I will look on the mechan...

Yes forgot about that thread and of course the site was set up towards British made machines, mode you, many of the manufacturers in there like J & M and Bergman of course are foreign….. I guess I have always assumed the site was geared towards British operated machines on UK coinage pre-decimal...

Re: Ebay prices getting out of hand

For me, where it's all happening is Facebook Marketplace and the Slot machine Groups. Although eBay has its issues, there is a level of protection for buyers and sellers, although the bias is towards buyers. The problem with Facebook is it's like the Wild West. You can easily create fake accounts a...
