Re: Fun at the Fair Nostalgic Machines restoration

I also have a 'Hole in One', seriously faded.
I wasn't going to bother with it, but I might just have a go, seeing how good they can look.
I suppose the front cover of a Doctor Who annual could be a suitable backflash.

So it's Jennings, then!
I couldn't find anything with that tiny slug window.
One of the less common machines. A refreshing change from the Mills conversions, which are legion.

Re: Pace

I was looking at the whole machine, rather than just the front. That 'double jackpot' front was sold as an 'add-on' by Pace, to fit a '29 model Mills (like mine), and only afterwards offered on an all-Pace machine, which this appears to be. It was copied from a Rockola front, and itself copied by Fa...

Re: Jamieson’s Autofruit range 1962 - 64

I don't have any diagrams for these machines, but, unlike the earlier 'uniselector' types, you don't need a diagram unless the original wiring has been tampered with. The wiring on these is to a very high standard, and I'm convinced that either Arthur Jamieson or Mr. Binns had GPO experience. It wou...

Re: Jamieson’s Autofruit range 1962 - 64

The variator motor turns at 5rpm. This is the left-hand motor in the inside photograph, the one between the odds adjuster and the main sequence controller. The speed of this variator will have no effect on the speed of the game. The right-hand motor controls the game length. It runs at 6rpm, and so ...

The TELSTAR is now up-and-running.
It wasn't a major job, once I'd got started. More of a re-commission than a restoration.

Re: Jamieson’s Autofruit range 1962 - 64

What a superb selection of photographs. The Jamieson's machines were always my favourites at the time, and once I actually managed to OWN one, I started to appreciate the ingenuity which had been built into them. The 'AUTOFRUITS' I have are 'Autofruit', 'Royal Ascot', 'Top Ten', 'Lucky Throw' and ju...

Swansea Pier. (I didn't know Swansea had a pier. Mumbles, perhaps.)
The benefits attributed to electric shocks were limited only by the operator's imagination.

Re: Hubba Bubba vending machine

Not a familiar sight in Britain, at least not in my little world.
Could it be an unsuccessful attempt to launch another US brand in Britain, just like Cracker Jack?
Or perhaps a shot at the Australian market?

No lighting in machine, can anyone recommend the best way forward?? 1. Source original lighting from somebody that’s got one spare and re-fit to machine. 2. Fit energy saving modern lights.. ?? IF you consider it to be a 'collectors item', then it needs to be fitted with the original type of lighti...

Both my Internationals have perspex, not glass. When I bought them, they were on New Penny, and were 'Rainbow Falls' and something that looked like ' Gg-Go-g-goGO-go-G-gg-'. I obtained a reel bundle and artwork for a game with beer glasses jackpot, and another for Tic Tac Toe. Both these were also p...
