Re: CAM Automatics
Some alteration over the years is understandable, but I draw the line at decimal conversion. I don't think the present seller is actually 'in the hobby'. I think he's part of the "f***in' 'ell, they're worth a fortune" brigade, an attitude encouraged by sensational TV 'antiques' shows. Sti...

Re: CAM Automatics
They didn't all have the Gold Award, which tended to be more popular in retail outlets such as pubs and clubs. Arcades were usually all-cash. Just got a reply from the fellow selling the eBay one. I asked if the original artwork had been mutilated, or if the 'conversion' was on the outside of the gl...

Re: unusual machine on ebay
Definitely CAM Automatics, of Seaham Harbour, here in Co. Durham.
Grossly over-priced, in my view.

Re: Crane
Is the Merchantman worth £2000? It's the walnut cabinet, which is plainer, but also not so tall, which is possibly better for domestic use. Looks in good order, inc. the electrics, which are often horribly mutilated. It's in Cardiff, which is a bit far for me, but the seller will accept a courier, a...

Re: Can anyone make complete vendors for sweet allwins?
Ah, now I understand. The machine is still in service. There aren't many left now. I toured the Bridlington arcades during the summer, and counted only four Allwins of any description, two of which were 'amusement only', with payout cups blanked-off. Is it time for a special thread, listing what can...

Re: Can anyone make complete vendors for sweet allwins?
WOW!
I've never seen a six-sided Whales allwin. It was only this year that I first met a four-sider; the Whales version of a 'Four Square'.
Which six does it have? Are the backflashes good?

Re: Can anyone make complete vendors for sweet allwins?
I'm not entirely sure what the OP is aiming at, but surely the backflash determines what an allwin pays out as a prize?
It's useful to remember how quickly marketing forces moved in the 'sixties. By the time Oliver Whales had got the machines into the arcades, the artwork was already out of date!

If the OP is using 'slots' in the American sense, then there isn't a single one listed at the Coventry Auction so far!

Re: Re-introduction and a Bryan's question
Brass was the material I used for the same part on a half-crown change machine.
It has the advantage of taking solder readily, which avoids the bolt-heads which sometimes interfere with reliable working of coin-chutes.

These must surely be the last new machines to offer the old-style Cherry pay-out of two Cherries plus Lemon or Bell.

Re: Jubilee Riviera chrome
I know it depends on personal taste, but I'd be spending more time on undoing the ghastly decimal conversion than attending to the chrome.
If anything stands out to mar the appearance, it's the awards expressed in money instead of coins.

Re: Carfield one arm bandit
You would be better with an Aristocrat, to start with, or perhaps a SEGA. I've always liked electrical gadgets, like the 'Lucky Devil' type conversions, so the Carfield is just my type of thing. PS. I've found it. £275 reserve not met, plus collection from Glous. has rendered the matter somewhat aca...

Re: Carfield one arm bandit
Look how good the artwork is.
Also, no half-baked decimal conversion.
An interesting, unorthodox machine.
Can't find it on eBay, though.

Re: Info wanted to improve an Autofruit emulation
Looks like I'll have to ascertain the length of the sequence after all. You could do it mathematically. There are only three variables, so either LCM or HCF would do it. (I can't remember which. 11+ was too long ago). Or you could do it empirically, thus: Wait until ELVIS pays 1/-. Stop the machine,...
