Re: Rare tokens/coins found in 1930s Roman Head bandit case window. What are they?

Jewish or Methodist.
Methodists also use this symbol, along with (surprisingly) the Burning Cross.

Re: Peter Simper machines

I'm fascinated by these PS machines. I have one, and it has real character. You can hear all sorts of things ticking away during play. I looked inside once, and it was absolutely PACKED with gear. Yours is 275 miles away, which is the only thing stopping me bidding on it. There was a 'Wild Anchor' b...

If they haven't tarnished, then they are likely to be made of gold. That's David, who abdicated, I think, which is right for the age of the machine. It was probably in one of the more 'racy' Gentlemen's clubs.

I had a Daimler with a Silent Knight engine, years ago. Very quiet, would set off in top.
Smoked a bit, though.

I like Formica on British types such as Jamiesons; it's part of the era.
This looks more like a skilfully-applied paint technique to me, though.

Re: Bally coin mech.

The BALLY Gold Award conversion is originally on 6d. for two or three plays, depending on the model. Mine was on New Penny, and a little careful 're-shaping' of the coin accepter soon had it back on tanners. The payout was a different story. Has yours got the sector payout, instead of the hopper, an...

Re: Win A Crunch

My Whales 'Easy Perm' backflash is the same. I've learned to live with it; they often turn brittle, and start to crack when you handle them. It had a MBC lamp holder in the top box, even though the artwork was almost opaque. Probably contributed to the warped top flash. Nice machines, though. Redcar...

Re: Aristocrat Sheerline One Arm Bandit

Splendid machine. Ideal for a beginner in the wonderful world of slot machine collecting. Originally on Australian sixpence (which is the same as ours), and certainly worth converting back. It still has the 'poker' reels, which is a bonus in Britain; they mostly have Mills-type fruits. Is it all in ...

Re: Person to service Caille mech 1934 Dictator

I've always liked the style of these, and with the dark finish, the chrome really stands out.
I don't like side venders, though. They are an important part of US slot machine history, but I've don't remember seeing one in Britain, even blanked-off.

Re: Jubilee Rivera

I'm fairly sure the RIVIERA model was introduced before (UK) decimalisation, but probably only in 6d. or 1/- 'club' versions. By the time they reached the penny arcades, the NEW penny will have been in use. Jubilee made much of the change to New Money in their advertising, seeing it as the 'latest t...

Re: My half penny play Payramid

I wonder what proportion were on ha'penny play? Most arcades kept an old allwin to mop up the odd ha'pennies at the bottom of our pockets, but I don't imagine many were ordered new after 1930.
