After I heated it, I sat another sheet of glass on it and a heavy weight on top of that. After it cooled it went back to being bowed up.

Thanks for the information Gameswat. My backflash did that same rising up thing but I guess I didn't do it long enough because it never fully collapsed before I put it between two pieces of glass. Next time I will hold the evil heat gun a little further away and heat it slower and longer.
