Does anyone know someone who can supply a vintage victorian arcade for a Steampunk festival in Hinckley Leicestershire around Spring/Summer next year?

Over-restored Elevenses
I found this advert on the Pinball Heaven website. As much as I appreciate the amount of work that has gone into the restoration I do feel it has been "Over Restored": http://www.pinballheaven.co.uk/shop/books-and-collectables-bryan-elevenses-classic-allwin-p-2062.html They do sell a few p...

Re: Powells Automatics
Powells have been going for absolutely ages. They still get a lot of trade from seaside arcades and casino slots.

Re: Powells Automatics
He got me the original glass for a Jubilee Golden Falls, plus the surround strips - all chromed.
I never would have found those myself.

Mini Sega - The original Game Cube!
How I delight in telling my children's mates that the Sega "Vest Pocket" was actually the original "Game Cube" made by Sega!

Re: Preservation Vs Restoration
I'll refer back to this, the only machine I've had with a traceable history and one previous owner! I bought this in Aug 2000 for about £240. I know the family of showmen to whom it belonged and was invited to view a small stock of machines in the back of a trailer which had been left untouched, und...

Preservation Vs Restoration
This isn't specifically slot related but, as I mentioned the subject of Preservation Vs Restoration in an earlier thread, I thought you could relate to this: I recently visited an old friend who has a huge shop full of collectable goodies. He split up from his business partner who shared a portion o...

Re: Sega cabinet paint finish
You can just make out some of the speckled stuff on the base. It has the same finish on the sides. As much as I like to see these machines embellished with polished oak sides and stove finish, I am actually proud of it. Knowing the full history of this machine by talking to it's previous owner, and ...

Re: Electroplating (chrome, nickel etc.)
Back in 1998 I used to work with a guy who, despite his age used to go out clubbing at these strange cyber-punk events. One dark Halloween he challenged me to go out with him and a lady to a club which was hosting a "zombie fest" event and that I had to go in fancy dress. All I could think...

Re: Electroplating (chrome, nickel etc.)
Talking of chrome plating.... There is a research group at the Uni where I work who have developed a plating material which cleans, polishes, etches and plates a near-chrome finish in one process! They are using a new chemical technology called "ionic liquid" which differ from conventional...

Re: Check your token collections guys!!
I never heard of that, these must be something like casino tokens - where they only have a value within the establishment in which they were issued?
I'll certainly be looking out for them from now on!

Powells Automatics
Whilst working in the arcades during the '90s, I sometimes got a chance to visit the BACTA amusement trades exhibition. I remember having a conversation with a Mr Powell on the Powell's Automatics stand. He said they were in the process of acquiring large amounts of 1970s bandits with the intention ...

Re: JUBILEE RIVIERA MINI MAXI TOP GLASS (AWARD GLASS) IMAGE
It's a long-shot but I think it's worth trying Henry Powell Automatics, as they used to sell second-hand glasses for about £25. They also make repro parts: http://www.1armedbandit.co.uk/80336/info.php?p=5

Re: sega cabinet paint finish
Most of my Segas have all been crackle-finish (not to be mistaken for Hammerite), but I had a late one with a bright red smooth glossy finish which was starting to crack with age. I believe both used a powder coat / baked process. One must remember that in the late 60's to 70's there were UK firms a...

Malcymal is quite right, and as I understand it, Bitcoins are a computer file in the form of a digital code, each one being unique. Each successive code is complex enough to prevent anyone de-cyphering the algorithm. The codes will match those stored in the Bitcoin central system, from which they are...
