Re: Metal backflash - steel or ali?
Oh, and this machine did originally have a marquee as there were holes in it and they perfectly matched the spacing of the marquee once I enlarged the photo to scale.

Re: Metal backflash - steel or ali?
Hi PM, here's some pics of a rough Circle Skill I restored about 5 years ago. I'm sure this wasn't German but of English manufacture and the marquee is one I copied exactly from a period photo of an English made version that came from Bollands old scrapbook. At the time I didn't have a mill so just ...

Circle polishing aluminium
Here's some pics of a rough Circle Skill I restored about 5 years ago... At the time I didn't have a mill so just used my floor standing drill press. I cut a small circle of 3M pot scouring material and glued it to a circle of wood the right dia with a bolt through it for a shank. The circular pinfi...

Re: Which clown?
Ha, that guy should lose the right to use the name "locksmith"! I've taught myself to pick Yale cabinet locks because they need to be partly unlocked in order to disassemble for re-pinning or re-keying. I fluked the first one and it only took about 45 seconds..... very strange feeling as i...

Re: veneering
Coinop, good point. I've messed around with hide glue but found it complicated to get right, seemed to set way too quickly for me? The normal wood glue is water soluble so you can just lay a wet towel over the veneer and it will peel off pretty quickly. Even old wood glue joints will open with some ...

Re: veneering
Hi, def looks like walnut to me too. I'm not a fan of the iron on veneer. We used it on some pool tables 20 years ago and I remember it peeling and tearing off quite easily over time. OK for use on modern furniture I guess. But you should go the traditional route and use real veneer and wood glue. A...

Re: CAM AUTOMATICS?
Hey Slotalot, did you end up adding any more winning combos to your friend's flasher? Was it possible to do this easily enough or not? Often I've either made a game harder or easier depending on what it was like when it arrived here so that the players actually get some decent fun and thrill.

Re: Easy Perm
The coin release looks ok to me. I think maybe you're not looking close enough? The arm does go all the way to the coin chute but is just hard to see as it bends side on, so not a lot of metal. Most allwins I've owned over the years have had some kind of adjustment of parts during their lifetime. An...

Re: Advice for a new collector
The other machine does look very nice original, but you can still see the faint blanked off outline of the Gold award placement. So they didn't spray them with a filler first to smooth them down. I guess it comes down to the factory painters were doing this every day and were bloody good at their jo...

Re: Advice for a new collector
Hey TreeFrog, I didn't think the paint was too gloopy or thick, just a little too glossy, it actually looks like thin enough paint but it's the bumps of the unpolished casting showing through. What's interesting to me is if you look you can see the outline where the gold award window would be. They ...

Re: 1941 Keeney's two way Super Bell
Very nice work! This is the way I like to restore them as well - I call it the shotgun method, clean everything. Then when you finally do put power up, there is usually only small issues to deal with and the machine stays working for a long time.

Re: Retreeva and Trickler For Sale
Jingle, can't say I've ever seen that color combo before on any Bryans machines. I have a wacky Clock clone that I must send a pic in one day. Pretty sure it uses a Bryans mech but all new case and castings. Not sure why anybody would go to the trouble? Though now that I just typed that out aloud, i...

Re: Retreeva and Trickler For Sale
Nice info to see. Just a week ago I offered my Retreeva to a friend in Aust for a lot less than that! But he never got back, luckily for me. Was not happy about parting with it anyway just needed some quick cash. Finishing off a few other pieces right now to part with instead.

Re: Clown from Hell!
Though funnily enough we do have a lesser version here in Perth believe it or not! Called Devilles Pad, one of the few places I happily go. Only it doesn't have that amazing exterior sadly, or quite as bizarre an interior. The owner started a Tiki bar called Hula Bula here first which is tiny and bu...

Clown from Hell!
Was just looking through my Clown and Bajazzo tokens and came across this one of interesting numerology. Instantly made me think of the famous "Cabaret De L'Enfer" (Cabaret of Hell) in Paris. I can easily imagine a customised Diablo style clown catcher being operated there paying out these...

My theory is that the buyer had inside knowledge - he knew that this was actually made of solid gold bullion, smelted during the war by a Jewish operator, disguised as a lead printing plate, and smuggled out to the UK.

Re: Print block
I love the feedback left by the buyer - "AMAZING ITEM!!THANKYOU SO SO MUCH!!++++++A+ CREDIT TO EBAY!!++++++++++++++++++++" Haha, rarely does anybody leave such "Amazing" feedback. And if the buyer was so happy with the printing block why didn't he make a great offer and buy all t...
