German Veromat slot wiring help needed
Has anyone ever had one of these Cam Operated German machines? I'm struggling to overcome a problem where by the coin switch blows the main fuse, mainly because 240v sits across the common and normally open contact. Once the switch operates, BANG!! Changed the switch, checked everything I can see fo...

Re: Payout Slides Sticking
I agree with all earlier posts, but consider the original coinage, probably 6d, or the current penny. New shiny pennies are notorious for causing coin jams as they are thicker than the earlier copper or copper plated ones. They also have very crisp edges that don't slide as easily. Another issue cou...

Re: Aristocrat Arcadian 65 repair & restoration
Wow, this was a labour of love!! Pleased you managed to get everything fixed. A bit confused about not sorting out the paint though. An hour with a mini paint roller and some metal paint would have produced a perfectly acceptable finish, comparable with most factory industrial finishes.

Re: Aristocrat Arcadian 65 restoration
@&@ Now you have removed the long bar across the nack, avoid removing the cam on the right hand side, with the square bolt and locking nut. The protruding length is critical to the correct operation. Too far out and the mechanism will lock solid; too far in and the reel kicker won't grab the cog...

Re: E/M Bally bandits
There is a manual available, the Haynes equivalent by Geddes and Mead, long out of print, very expensive now. 1 came up in Italy recently. Very cheap, so keep on looking. It won't cover every aspect of your machine, most of the top box will be UK designed. I have a troubleshooting guide, available i...

Re: How many sixpences does a Jennings hold before coins drop into cashbox
The Jennings jackpot can be adjusted using the 2 screws securing the chrome plate behind the glass. Tightening the screws will increase the depth, and therefore the volume to hold the coins, and the reverse holds good.

Re: Electroplating (chrome, nickel etc.)
I've not bothered with rechroming for years. Rusty handles can be polished up easily, use a rotary sander or angle Grinder and differing grades of abrasive, up to about 800, then polish on a wheel. Most Ali can be mirror polished much cheaper than replanting. The Bryan's brass castings would look fi...

Re: Jennings Governor plating
I gave up trying to replate Jennings years ago. The Governor castings are just pot Ali crap and will always fail Prestige Platers in Mexborough have always done a good job for me at a very fair price. They will plate, but for the Jennings parts, they recommend polishing due to the poor base material...

Bally handle pawl lock dimensions
Can anyone help with a close up picture of the inside of a Bally e/m standard handle mech.? My recent purchase seems to have a lug broken off at the point where the interlock releases when a coin is inserted. Plenty more faults to work through, but got to start somewhere....What I really need is the...

Re: Bryans Six Win Clock restoration
Last time I did one of these, I found chrome screws holding the bezels to the case. Stupid money, so I improvised by using nickel plated electrical socket machine screws and matching nuts instead... Cheap as chips from Screwfix. A quick spin on the polishing wheel, and just like chrome. Mine was num...

Re: Bell Fruit Cascade
ref the flicker, it must be perfectly flat and polished up or it will stick. These are fun machines, but a pain when they play up. 1 use a magnet and get rid of all the steel coins if you can. 2 when refitting the trips on the workbench, put coins in the runways to hold the trips in place as you fid...

Re: Allwin style home build questions
The handle is from Toolstation; various styles available, but it was just a simple chromed alloy one. Take off the circlip to dismantle; check the length of the curve against an original if you have one. Cut to length with a cutting wheel or hacksaw, clean and form the end on a rotating sanding disc...

Re: Allwin style home build questions
You really need something to copy from, if possible, just to understand the principles of operation and dimensions. I was lucky to have a box of bits and pieces to fall back on, but I did make a brand new Bryans cabinet out of oak, which threw this one spare. I have a new Ollie Whales case which nee...

Re: Allwin style home build questions
I've just finished a scratch built (in part) allwin, using an old Bryans cabinet and door wood pieces I had kicking around the shed. I happened to have a ball gallery from ebay, which is a must really. I didn't bother trying to build a payout mech, as this would have been months on the making, simpl...

Re: Bally Money Tree
Are you sure the mech is sitting correctly in the case? I don't remember any adjustments on these, so perhaps the mech is sat on top of the base, rather than slid into the grooved slot, or the locking handles have not fully engaged to pull the mech tight into the case, or something behind the mech i...

Re: Several allwins on ebay
The upper of the two 5 Wins has parts missing (coin entry and ball release, for starters) and the lower one has had a new base and an ugly 1D sign stuck over the token entry slot. The owner claimed it was 'totally original' but never replied when I queried his description.

Re: Aristocrat Arcadian 65
I fully agree with the previous posts...a very expensive option for such a basic bandit. I've done loads of these, turned from rusty piles of crap to shiny boys toys in a couple of days max. They are so easy to work on, and parts easy to find. Can't be bothered any more, not a challenge for me.
