White Elephant
white-elephant-featured.jpg I just thought of another English machine I purchased in a group which reminds me of the cylinder machine. I bought 2 of them and haven't seen another in forty years. I know they were English as they operated on the old English penny and 120 volts. They were large floor ...

grump.jpg Moonriver is right....You can't take me too seriously.... I've always been into Coin-ops for the fun and games. Although I am one of the pioneers in the hobby, I am virtually unknown to that gang of dealers and experts in America. I have never invested any serious money in coin-op machine...

Re: Strange penny arcade
Thanks arrgee for the enlarged picture of the "subway arcade". . The change booth is now visible as well as the Puss-in-Boots which Mr. P has made reference to. This machine was made by Roovers Bros. (circa 1900) These cute little pussies command a price of $ 50,000 in today's high end auc...

crazy bi.jpg I just found this picture in my files without any caption or explanation. It looks more like a subway than an amusement center. But, check out those machines.....WOW !!! I can't wait to hear your speculation as to what this possibly could be.. Let's start with the two visible machines ...

Going broke fast
I note that time after time the old British machines shown in the Forum operate mostly on the large penny.
How did the operators of the day make a living off so many penny machines.
By contrast, an American slot is rarely found with a one cent coin slot. ROGER

Re: Poison This Rat
Attached is another photo of the "Rat"........ Note that it shows a side handle for a more intricate operation. I believe that the $18,000 one had both this feature plus a top sign. At that price the added feaure must have been a "doozy". I'm hoping that a member has seen this ma...
