Old King Cole Cigar Vender

This most unusual early musical cigar vending machine (the vender plays music - not the cigars!) was bought last November by well-known vintage slot machine enthusiast and author Ken Rubin. If you can shed any light upon the usual questions: "who made it? and when?" Ken would love to hear from you. He is currently creating a website devoted to cigar vending machines.
Although the machine was found in England, I wonder if it was made here. The slim, elegant styled case is a little reminiscent of Ell products.
