1200 miles in 13 hours ....there should be considerable revenue gain from the movie. A cross between like 'The Cannonball Run', 'The Transporter' and 'Dukes of Hazard' ......I'll do the casting for Daisy Duke.

A remember a highly modified La Giroutte (Pin-Up Girl) sold at a 1995 Vegas auction for around $1900usd. And I sold my Pin-Up girl conversion years ago for $3300 aud.

As for the moving expenses, so what? If you knew the money I'd spent over the years shipping 100 + basket case machines in from the US and UK you'd think I was insane. Crating/packaging + Shipping + Import Duty & Sales Tax = Expensive! But I happen to live in Australia and love these machines, amd not much turns up here. So you do whatever it takes if you're really into it. And i don't regret any of the purchases. Since I do all the restoration myself I've always made money down the track or at worst broken even in a few cases.
Re: Pig in a Poke? You decide.
So only 13 people interested in this thread, that is a bit dissapointing

It could appear at times Arrgee that slot collectors are often agog with disinterest and spend a lot of their time on the edge of their seats with indifference.

Hey Roger - I see your Caps Lock is still STUCK ON. Have you tried WD40?
OK Roger, I've now set the poll to allow this - only one vote, but you can keep changing it until the 24th!roger wrote:HOW CAN I POSSIBLY CHANGE MY VOTE WHEN I WASN'T EVEN ABLE TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO RIG THE RESULTS WITH MULTIPLE VOTES ???????????
Re: Pig in a Poke? You decide.
I couldn't agree more.... I spent more money on HOTELS, FOOD, GAS and LONG DISTANCE PHONE CALLS and a ton of hours/days driving all over going to antique shows and hunting down leads..Gameswat wrote:As for the moving expenses, so what? I have been on lots of goose chases... I remember getting a lead on a guy who had 4 or 5 slot machines... I had received his phone number, so I called and made plans to meet... After getting up at dawn, drove for hours, found this "junk" shop, I was going down a set of stairs and we didn't make it to the bottom of the stairs when I saw 4 or 5 TOY slot machines... I said to the guy 'are those the machines there?'....'yap'.... 'OK, sorry, but I don't buy toys, just the real thing'........ Just part of the hobby

Re: Pig in a Poke? type size
to uk members.......now that several members have objected to the use of capital letters. i'm begining to think that we have a cultural misunderstanding......would someone please explain what you mean by "shouting" when you refer to capital letters ??????? where i come from , the use of capital letters does not have any sinister meaning but simply provides for easier reading......roger

Re: Pig in a Poke? You decide
World wide the use of constant capital letters is seen as shouting as far as texts, messaging, and posts are concerned, usually means your angry at something that has been said
Re: Pig in a Poke? You decide
...................However, the use of capitals is desirable when used correctly, e.g. at the beginning of sentences, proper nouns, abbreviations etc.
As for the poll, I'm still undecided - this needs very careful consideration. Whilst it would be impolite to call JP a goat, I'm beginning to lean in that direction. That said, I can't help feeling he's not telling the whole story. John's no fool, and to drive 1200 miles for what could be an empty box, and at best would only duplicate what he's already got, seems unlikely.

You should have been at the Coventry pre-auction viewingI don't think much of their music either (a lot of loud noises)
Re: Pig in a Poke? You decide
Ah, now yer talkin'! Good ole sh*t-kickin' rhythm & blues - yer can't wack it!
Before the start of the auction, I did (rather half-heartedly) apologise for playing the same tape three years running, but just hadn't had the time to put together a new one. However, during the course of the afternoon, four or five people said "please don't change the tape".................so you're getting it next year!
