Modern 'Bocca Della Verità' fortune teller

Saw this fortune teller in Kobe Japan last week. An interesting and clever idea to use the ancient Roman "truth mouth" as a theme. Just put your hand in the mouth and 100yen in the slot and out pops your fortune. I think the neon lit palm at the top was added as an after thought because no one in Japan recognised the theme! This machine was outside an arcade in a shopping Mall. The arcade had 30 machines inside... all of them cranes, nothing else, just cranes with various different prizes.

I saw these in the UK and on the Continent in the 1990s. They were originally made by Italian company DPS Promatic and have been "copied in Spain, Korea, Hungary, Taiwan and China and probably other places." Development of the successful design continues with the incorporation of new technology.
