Allwin identification help?
Allwin identification help?
Hi guys.
Just dug another project out of storage. Poor thing's been eaten to death by white ants but I'm going to have a go at fixing it and building it a cabinet.
Can anyone identify this game? The green felt seems original, not sure about the glass flowers.

Re: Alwin identification help?
Aussie made, I have these photos of different models but never seen any in person. Tony possibly bought these so ask him where they are for possible help restoring the cabinet.

And of you go to this link on the site you'll see a complete example of your machine and at least a couple of the Winner examples as posted by Bob: Australian Wineasies & showman's paint

That's not damage, that's what some on here would describe as patina.ddstoys wrote:Here's some of the damage lol

Dan, I'm certain I now remember seeing at least one of the complete machines I've shown above in the background of a recent photo taken by Tony.

I think the normal expression for this is "barn find" and "condition commensurate with age"badpenny wrote:That's not damage, that's what some on here would describe as patina.
Well done Gameswat - as usual a mine of information.
Re: Allwin identification help?
Pretty happy with the results. The completely stuffed rotted and eaten out timber has been replaced and new velvet installed. So at this stage I'm happy to continue with the resurrection.

You don't miss much do you mate...
It's OK they will be changed - didn't want to waste my brass screws on this wreck. So these will do for now.

Re: Allwin identification help?
Also for authenticity, the cloth should be a fuzzy pale-green woollen baize or cotton velvet, not a modern plush which is probably 100% Polyester. Reclaimed period fabric from upholsterers or Snooker table refurbers would be ideal.
Re: Allwin identification help?
Cool I'll ask around local upholsterers. It looks nothing like pool table cloth or would a table teclothrr use it for something else?

Re: Allwin identification help?
I couldn't decipher your last sentence, but some suitably aged cloth of the right material will meld so much better. You have a very unusual game there - it deserves the effort to get it right. Original or not, I do like the glass flowers.
Re: Allwin identification help?
The glass flowers and trims are definitely all original as shown on the other two machines I posted photos of.
Re: Allwin identification help?
I hope you're just winding us up!? Didn't bother mentioning it before because I thought it was obvious in the other machines pictured. Seems to have been the Aussie spandrel style as I've seen similiar things on quite a few locally made Allwins.
