Anyone know this Jennings machine?

Post by coppinpr »

Can anyone tell me anything about this unusual Jennings "Automatic Dealer" machine? I can't find any info on it anywhere. Please disregard the toys on the top (not my photo I hasten to add).

The owner tells me his father found it in the attic of a club and swapped it for a wooden chest 30 years ago. It appears there is a foot pedal, you paid the barman (or seated dealer) for so many plays and he pressed the pedal the correct amount of times to rack up you plays. Betting seems to have been between the players sitting round the table. The machine dealt hands in letters or cards depending on the game you were playing. I've seen several trade stims that were "rented out" to groups of friends to use in a bar, so I guess that makes this the worlds largest trade stim.
The machine still works but needs the mech cleaning to allow the motor to cycle it and is for sale.

I inspected the nameplate and it seems it's written in English. Not sure if that means anything, since the socket and plug indeed are looking to be foreign...
