I nearly bought one of these umpty years ago when I was running pubs.
It would have been great in the back bar. Sadly it wouldn't fire up but I got a chance to look inside it and it had numerous hefty great springs that should they have come adrift from their tethers would have most likely ripped your face off.

Would love to see how it looks on the inside. Too bad its in a "not tested" condition, so more or less an unknown for me. What a shame.

From what I remember it was a concoction of steel wire around metal pulley wheels and as I said earlier tethered to gert great springs.
I might be quite wrong (I often am) but although parts were missing I got the impression there was a random gear selector involved rather like the derailleur on an old racing bike.
Thus giving different punters an ever changing resistance and encouraging competition.
