1960s rarities
1960s rarities
Robert Rowland's trip down Memory Lane in issue 47 brought us two rare survivors from the 1960s.
The first was a Challenger wall machine - there's nothing rare about 1960s Challengers, but this was not the more common 1d Holt Engineering machine, it is a 3d Challenger manufactured by Robinson Partners (London) Ltd and distributed by Samson.
The second machine was a small flipper-less pinball type game called Win-a-Lot, manufacturer unknown. I've never seen one of these before - nor have I ever seen a machine illuminated with Christmas tree lights!
Here are the pictures:

Oh hey, now that this thread is back on the front page: I love these games! Win-A-Lot seems so cool, almost like a carnival skill game.
Challenger is pretty cool too, though I prefer the Allwin-style games with the coin-filling columns.

Latest pictures with the lost omitted - original machine did not come with lost columns.

The coin that causes a win/payout goes into the back of the machine for the operator, right?rippyspennyarcade wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 2:33 pm Latest pictures with the lost omitted - original machine did not come with lost columns.
If so, definitely don't need those LOST columns!

Re: 1960s rarities
You are correct cait001 , The Lost would only have been added by a mean operator who wanted the machine to make a little more cash

Win-a-lot; superb & thanks for the video. Love the Christmasy lights..
'Win-a-little' might have been a better name though!

Second to the cranes the next best played and taking machine in the arcade, also pays out well and keeps interest going. Has to be 27" above ground for optimum play
