Dad's Army crane

Post by 13rebel »

Did anyone see tonight's episode of Dad's Army (BBC1 at 7.30)? The platoon were stranded on the pier and had the idea to win chocolate bars from a crane, to no avail. The spiv came to the rescue however by banging the machine and was then able to pinch the choccy from the back,. Most of the bars only had cardboard inside - typical! Perhaps someone is clever enough to retrieve this clip from iPlayer and post it on here and even let us know which model of crane it was? !PUZZLED!

Hello
I think that episode was called "Menace From the Deep".
When I last saw that film, I remember thinking the crane was just a film prop. I also think this has already been discussed in this forum.

See clip here - Site Admin.

Yes there is a post on this in September 2008 but clip has been removed, or at least it has on my computer.

I think there is a problem with the clips - I could not view them.

I remember this Dad's Army clip being posted, I expect it will be Youtube that has removed the clip, because of the BBC copyright on it, !WHOOPS!

The footage is definately there and viewable through the site. However, initially, when I went to check it out, I too couldn't view it. I think the answer is that people are encountering problems with their security settings, or as a result of clearing out cookies. As I say, initially I couldn't view it. However, I noted that there was a bar across the top of the internet page with a message saying 'this site is trying to run Active X, click here if you want to run this'. I clicked on the bar and after a short spell the footage was viewable. So, I think this is the issue which many are encountering.

Yes, I tested them yesterday and again today - worked both times. They're hosted on Funny-Videos.co.uk which is less likely to take them down than YouTube. Their videos seem rather slow loading, probably because they have a fraction of YouTube's bandwidth, but if you give them long enough to connect and buffer (less than a minute), they should play.
I must already have the required ActiveX control, because I wasn't aware of that.

Clean the lint and fluff out of the escalator entry or most likely flick out the 1np coin jammed in the gate.
