Debt ceiling and the monetary system

In light of the US debt ceiling crisis which has exorcised politicians and media over the last few months, you might think somebody would mention that a monetary system that works like a monumental Ponzi scheme, guaranteed by design to generate mountains of unpayable national debt, is a complete crock of shit. Those that do broach the topic get no coverage in the mainstream media, so why not mention it here?
