Google Home WTF?

Am I the only one suspicious about this Google Home thingy being pushed heavily on TV adverts currently?
"Google, what does a Panda sound like?" is the inane question it gets asked.
Well for that to happen you have to have welcomed into your home a gizmo that is hooked up to the web and constantly listening to everything that is being said in its earshot .... in your house ..... everything!
And it's connected to a live website somewhere in the world ...... recording everything being said in your house.
Am I the only one suspicious about this? !PUZZLED!

they have already had this type of problem with the devise in the USA.

A useful devise though, for questions like, "what is the combination of my safe..I forgot it" and "where did I leave the car and what is the key number" and of course," if I order £2000 worth of euros and have them delivered to my home where would I get the best rate and when would they arrive", not to mention "what noise does a person who has just been robbed make"

Bit late to get suspicious now. Lots of people have been carrying smartphones around for a while and 'they' have the ability to turn on the microphone or camera in the phone without your knowledge, not to mention the obvious location services even when it appears to you to be turned off. At least the Google Home stays in the home - the phone goes everywhere with you. It is a brilliant scheme that causes people to voluntarily carry the means of their own destruction.

My brother has a car with a Satnav and a phone SIM. Apparently if he is involved in an accident the car automatically calls the emergency services and gives the location of the vehicle. How far away do you think we are from the car making a call saying you are on this road exceeding the speed limit and requesting a speeding ticket by return of post? The technology is all in place. Take a hint from BA and turn all the power off to your computers - that should fix it.

my new car has an app that allows you to give the car several commands from anywhere via a dedicated wifi the car has on board that links to your phone. Turns out this is very useful to thieves as it can be used to (a)find the car (b) open the car (c) turn the car on..The makers are now saying its perhaps not a good idea to activate the app SkEpTiCaL

When Satnavs first became popular, many people programmed a 'Home' destination as a convennient way of plotting a route home from any location. Of course thieves stealing your car could then use this to go and rob your house while they knew you were out.
