dodgem info please

maybe bit offtopic but hey here goes anyway

have got a dodgem in storage and will try to get a pix posted asap

it has a round emblem on the front states whittaker bros shaw lancs

i have seen whittaker bros dodgems before but only little kiddie one
seater battery operated? type things............................................,

but this is a fullsize two seater adult monster of a beast and heavy

did whittakers manufacture their own line of fullsize dodgems too
or just import from another manufacturer with their own emblem?

im no expert but its shape probably dates it mid or late sixties though
it maybe earlier or later,

would love to have some catalogue pix or real shots of whittaker bros
dodgem line thru the ages to try to ascertain age, if anyone can help it
would be much appreciated

Hi Neal , Have you looked at the National Fairgroun Archive its part of Sheffield University website, http://www.nfa.dept.shef.ac.uk/ it has lots of photos and you may find some info here, good luck Stuart.

I have contacted whittaker bros at shaw, [why i didnt do that first, anyway!!?!]

My thanks to John Whittaker who was very helpful, who advised to google images
and the same link too as stuart did too...............................................................

and we quickly date dit to late 50's early sixties vintage and maybe royalty too!!!!!

so first pix of prince charles in 59 and hes 60 now?

so around x11 in the picture. I believe that both he
and princess anne received their own dodgems of
this kind as a gift from botton brothers, owner and
opeartors of the dodgems in the pix, i wonder if they
still have them?

photo showing the same Whittakers Dodgem of the period.
