I like bp's one liner for the petition with one word change:

Help us to legalize the collecting of old slot machines, visit our forum at https://pennymachines.co.uk and sign the petition

How about this for the forum:

"Save our seaside heritage, help make it legal." Link to petition.

I think the hook should be to strike a responsive chord to what people remember (seaside) and pique their curiosity (petition) without telling them exactly what it is about. If you say "slot machine," many will just ignore the issue as being one that does not concern them. In fact, the loss of their amusement heritage should concern them. Get them to the petition first, then close the deal.

pennymachines.co.uk making progress I see!!

Post by coppinpr »

Topic moved & merged - site admin.

I for one have started putting an advert for this site on my ebay ads and I know for certain that three people have visited the site after seeing my one liner and at least one of them has joined because they told me so in messages through ebay. This seems to be reflected by the new record number of visitors at one time which was 93 on the evening of the 7th Sept, breaking the old record set some years ago. So the message is clear, if you sell on ebay - slip in an ad for the site or the petition (or both) !!THUMBSX2!!

Well done that man !WORSHIPFULL!
For my part I have opened a Twitter account in the name of the Petition, you can find it at twitter @ petition 36659 if you want to link to it !!JUNK!! I have also been busy spreading the word over the internet.
And I know I have said this before but could I have a little more help in getting people to sign it...we all have friends, relations, people we work with that we can ask. !!GROUPHUG!!
I have had a couple of private emails from people who are worried about what I might do with their names & addresses if they sign it, all I can say to put your mind at rest is I can’t see any of your details, nobody can, all I can see is that X number of people have signed it,
If we all pull together we can get this job done /\UK/\

Boring as it seems ive been checking over the membership of the forum because I think its important to raise its profile and membership as that can only help the hobby and ,of course ,the petition.
Interestingly i find that this month (Sept) will almost certainly break the record of new members joining since the forum started. The current record was set in dec 04 when 26 new members joined, Sept currently stands at 16 with 12 days to go. Can anyone selling on Ebay please add a plug for the site AND the petition. Im going on on holiday friday (just a cruise of the western med to visit some of the historic sites, Rome,Venice,Ephesus, Pompeii,Olympus, Santorini and a few others, not that Im trying to make anyone jealous or anything  ) so I have no adds on ebay just now.
It seems or attempt to push the forum forward is working !!THUMBSX2!!
