Thank you for all the updates. Hopefully, if time permits, we will take a brief look on Saturday. Having said that, we've only got an hour and if it costs an arm and a leg for entry, then we will have to let this go on this occasion. I'd assumed that the arcade side of things might be free entry. I'm assuming not.

Anyone know for sure whether this is payment only to access the arcade?

Yes Jimmy, you have to pay to get into the caves. Once you've been through, then you get to the penny arcade and other attractions, which include a rather interesting glass maze. It's been many years since I visited, and I understand there are not as many machines now, but at the time I thought it was good value for money - the caves alone are breathtaking............but as I say, it was many years ago that I was there, and at that time they still had the Bangor fairground collection which in itself was worth the money.

Hi all,
Just making sure you had to pay. Called there about 5 years ago; did the caves and arcade - very good at the time.... Called in on Sunday as was passing... Mrs Cowman got out the car and said it was going to cost £60 for us four to see the arcade again. I thought you could just go straight to the arcade for free, as I've seen the caves.... I was wrong...... It's a shame you cannot go and play the machines, pay for pennies ........ !!RANT!! Their loss - missing out on a legend calling. :HaHa:

I was at Wookey Hole this weekend just gone.

The Cave is astonishing, although one does wonder why anyone would take very young kiddies along who are only going to learn the true meaning of being scared sh*tless whilst hacking off 30 people by demonstrating the power of cavern acoustics coupled with their ability to scream non stop for 45 minutes. !!RANT!! It left me wondering if young children can breath in through their arses.

Plastic dinosaurs don't do it for me either, but look beyond the tackiness and the natural beauty of the place is outstanding.
The arcade was large and I guess if I didn't already have a goodish selection to play on at home I'd have been more agog.
A bit of blurb about the machines would be my suggestion.
Likewise if you were allowed to test drive a Ford Model T would you have a clue how to approach it? So why scatter a handful of Bullions around without explaining what and why?
As many of them are displayed in the centre of the room why not put a perspex back on some to show the innards?

Biggest disappointment though was the high number of machines wearing notices saying that due to the age of the machine it was temperamental and currently out of order. I appreciate some of the large floor standing electro mech machines like the Waltonian may take more than a prod with a screwdriver to get back into life.
However Allwins and Sega bandits?

Still good though to see the collection.

I am surprised - when I was there in August they were all working well with no 'out of order' etc signs to be seen. As usual I could not resist taking dozens of pics...........

Maybe the keyman can only get to the arcade by carrying his toolbox through the cave and then dodging the dinosaurs. :!?!:
