Tragic ..... looks like it started in the arcade, thankfully the seaward end seems in fairly good condition, I hope it can be restored soon.

The pier is local to me... its council owned. Reports today say it will be open by next summer, the MP and a group of experts(?) are meeting today to discuss the restoration, The entrance was a particularly interesting and original one. The pier is grade 2 listed. Dont know what machines were lost, I dont think there were many if any vintage machines in the arcade. At least this one was not the usual insurance scam

Heard in one report that it was an electrical fault in the roof, no doubt all will be revealed in due course, but sad to see any vintage pier construction go up in flames.
