I would not want to be involved in the programme, although not for the reasons given by others. I don't believe any one's going to be interested in the legal position (although as I understand it is not against the law to own these machines for your own use and collection or, if it is, no one much cares - you just can't buy or sell). My main reason for not taking part would be that I don't have a good enough collection.
I've been on several of these programmes with my work and other interests both on TV and radio and it has to be said the response from the public is huge, even repeats generate a lot of interest. If we were interested in raising the profile of our hobby and getting more people involved nothing could be better, that is for sure. It would also be a good chance to highlight the stupid laws, which would not get cut I'm certain - it's just the sort of media fuss the TV likes.
The exposure of the individual involved is minimal, as others say, the details are forgotten the next day... but the idea remains and gets talked about, no doubt about it.

If the producers would not mind a short plane ride across the pond, I'd be delighted to share my collection. It's mostly bundled in the garage but what fun we could have digging through the pile!

The last of the three collectors featured in Episode 8, Series 2 of Collectaholics was Lancashire-based retro video arcade enthusiast Andy who has "over 300 vintage arcade machines hidden away in a 3000 square foot unit on an industrial estate. With everything from Space Invaders and Pac-Man to Donkey Kong, he'd love nothing more than to share his collection with other enthusiasts." These games are for the most part larger than the ours, and he has hit upon a clever solution that could help finance restoration and storage costs. Around 100 of the working machines are made available in an 'Arcade Club' and for £10 the public get four hours nostalgic video game indulgence.

It's available for another 17 days on BBC iPlayer.
