Is this the strangest casino there ever was?
If id posted this on April 1st everyone would have cried "fool" but they would have been wrong.
Although Im not certain I dont believe this casino ever operated slots so Im stretching a point by posting this but it really is SO odd.
From 1932 to the mid 60's the Nevada State Prison operated a full casino, run for the inmates and run by the inmates, and this in a state where ex-cons have always been banned from working in casinos.
The tokens used there are VERY collectable, especially the early ones.
There are a few books about it and lots of photos, this is one of the best.
Only in America!!

Fascinating, I bet they didn't have too much problem with punters cheating or organised crime muscling in.

Lester Maddox, former Georgia Governor and one time candidate for President was once asked what it would take to finally improve the sorry state of the Georgia prison system.
His reply: "What we need is a better class of prisoner."
Clearly, he should have looked to Nevada.
