Rotomat Juwel side plate repair
Rotomat Juwel side plate repair
My Rotomat Juwel side plate (behind the activator arm) has the top arm stop broken off.
I have the piece that is broken and looking for suggestions for repair.
I'm thinking fiberglass resin or jb-weld?
I doubt I will find a replacement here because these machines are rare here.
The broken piece is the same as you see on the bottom in the picture.

Re: Rotomat Juwel side plate repair
Looking at the plate, looks like it is suffering from monkey metal disease and other parts look to have warped......maybe an issue to bond on this... common issue on these machine as you will find on searches on this site.
Most recent was a guy with a Space Flight.... I happened to have one that had been laying in the garden for 8 years and was perfect, which he used as his was falling apart... I guess luck of the draw on these.

Since this is not a valuable machine you could glue it in place and also drill a hole in the piece for a countersunk screw into the wooden cabinet, fill the hole with putty and paint over the top and nobody will even know and should provide more than enough added strength to last. Maybe do the lower bracket as well as it will want to snap off sooner or later.

Thank you for the replies.
This piece looks as though whoever painted it tried to pry it to take it off and bent it.
The fellow I got this from said it was painted and the plate was warped when he got it.
He had it for about twenty years.
The piece that broke off was done when it slipped in his hand and took a hit in the shuffle from the basement.
That's why he still had the piece.
He also pointed out the scratch on the arm itself that was done at the same time.
I have read about the monkey metal issue and did look at the other metal parts and they look OK.

Easily cobbled together .... I'd use JB Weld and would consider the screw idea above also.

That's what I will try badpenny.
That or the fiberglass resin should work.
I kind of think the fiberglass would be good for strength.
Have you ever dripped it on cement? Good luck getting it off!!!!
