Home made Payout cup

A while back I bought an Oliver Whales Allwin de luxe that was missing a few bits and one of those was the payout cup. I had been looking at another of my Allwins and wondering how I could fabricate one, and the main bit the bowl itself was the main issue. It then occurred to me that a stainless steel ladle would provide an ideal cup and then just cut out a piece of stainless for the surround, weld them together and weld on some nuts and job done.

Here are a few photos of the work in progress. I have traced the outline of the old piece, transferred it onto the stainless, carefully cut/ground the outline out and the center to receive the cup. Just waiting for my old man to weld it up. And before anyone says it, I know you can buy one on eBay but I thought I'd be different and make my own.

What about getting one cast. Could probably make one using the Prince August metal

A bit out of my depth... Is there a past thread on casting? What is Prince metal?

There are a few threads, one below on the Wonders badge. I used to make toy soldiers as a kid out of their kits and visited their factory in the late seventies in Ireland. They used to custom make moulds, but people have been making them using hi temp paste like used for modelling. I guess you need another cup to copy, but they do have a harder metal available which I reckon would be suitable. May need to be made in two parts I suspect.

I needed one of these cast but the undercuts ruled out sandcasting without dissecting the original. A rubber mold was going to be expensive. Eventually one turned up at auction.
