Vertical finger

The last months I was cleaning the mechanism of a Jennings Chief. There was a lot of rust, and I mean really a LOT of rust, grease and oil on it. Because lack of time and the bits laying around, I had to put it back together. Problem was that one finger was too far and was not free of the disc. At the other side the finger did not reach the horizontal levers. After scratching my head a couple of times I decided to take everything out again :!?!: . To my surprise I found what you can see in the pic.

It looks bent, possibly a break repair halfway down..

Can't be right can it?
As TF says perhaps a damaged and then repaired part.

Was the machine actually working with it in place? Maybe it was a high pay out finger so wasn't coming into play often and not noticed?

Bp, indeed it was working but it was closer to the disc than the others. Let's see if I can get it straight again. I promised myself not to buy a rusted mechanism like this one again. :D
