Advice wanted - Jennings Standard Chief

Hello, bit of advice wanted. My mum has a Jennings Standard Chief one arm bandit which she is looking to sell as she is downsizing. I've offered to help try and find out what it's worth and then find a buyer for it if possible. I came across this forum and hope there are members out there who would know about this model? My mum and dad bought it in the '70s and my dad did some work to it. It works on the old large pennies. I've attached a couple of photos. Thanks in advance!

Hi!
Standard Chief sale results are recorded on this site's Arena pages (subscription only) here and sale results achieved at the Elephant House Auctions are here.

Selling is not permitted via this Forum, but you could advertise it in the Market.

Thanks very much for your reply. I had looked at the elephant auction results and saw one went for £1700. I suppose it depends on the condition etc so that's why I was after the advice really, I just wouldn't know how much to ask for. Do you think putting it for auction would be the way to go? I have emailed 3 websites that offer to buy one arm bandits and have had one quote come back but have no idea if it's a fair price- it's for much lower than £1700. Are they very common machines?

People hate offering advise on prices as there is no fixed answer......eg it could sell between £360 and £1800......that is how wide I would make an answer to your question as if selling for example at auction, it depends on the day......I have one and paid a grand for it, one finished at auction two days ago for a grand, blah blah blah......

Your machine is a 1D machine and may affect price, positive, but also negative as I assume it has no working jackpot. If your concerned, stick it in an auction.....eg elephant house held monthly.....

Moderators on here will get twitchy as they do as people maybe tempted to offer you three bars of chocolate and their misses for the machine, which goes against the rules, especially the sale of chocolate....

Key points are, working state, complete state (cash box, rear door, lock and key etc)

Good luck

Ah right, thanks for this. I totally see your point about not giving out prices. It's helpful to know what people might be looking for so I will check those things you mentioned, then have a chat with mum about what to do with it. As for the jackpot - apparently my brother won when he was an intrigued toddler and the coins poured all over him! Hasn't happened since though!

Does not surprise me about the jackpot. You don't normally see the later Jennings (Governors etc.) on old penny with a working jackpot, but Standard Chiefs - yes. Presumably this is because they were made for the American market on the similar-sized 50 cent coinage.
