Your artwork looks great. Operating at private hire venues on private land is a good way to go, as travelling old penny arcades in public environments (outside of the usual fairground venues) often evade official scrutiny until some jealous sole makes a complaint, especially when ;
1. it looks like a commercial operation, and
2. It looks like it's taking good money,
3. there isn't a cheery, retired, real old character standing there running it.

Some of you coin experts out there may spot the date on the old penny! I was considering running a competition where customers that find one in their purchased old pennies can win £50 😂
Paul ....

If you check This thread I started two years ago you'll see a connection.
Too many buckets of pre decimal coins is my problem, they'll be somewhere I guess.

So I wanted the underside of the opening sides to look a bit fancy and here is the result.

The lightbulbs are also in the process of being fitted. Something warm white and traditional.

I hope that everything will be back together in the next week, more to follow 😀

Who is the person doing the fabulous paintwork - he needs adding to the 'Resources' section for future reference.

He is a good friend and fairground painter. I will add a link to his website and his number once the job has been finished. I collect the finished trailer a week tomorrow then I can start fitting the machines. 😀

So the flaps are back on, lined and finished. The lighting and trellises have been installed today.

Tilts to be added tomorrow, these will have scalloped edges hopefully!

So the arcade project has returned home for final build and installation of the machines.

Here are some pictures of the work as everything starts to come together.
I am very pleased with the Lakin design that we have tried to emulate from the heyday period of fairground art.

That is stunning Paul, you must be delighted with it.
A true credit to your dedication.
I'd be astonished to hear if you got much change out of a crisp £50 note for that lot and no mistake!

Hi Paul ...
when you started this thread I thought... "how will that trailer ever look the part?" but the transformation has been unbelievable and the detail has gone way beyond what I thought it would be... Forget the machines, just the trailer alone is a work of art... but saying that, and based on your input, I'm guessing you will have some pretty impressive machines on there... I somehow don't believe you will have a row of Aristocrat bandits on there (before Crat fans complain, I have one and I love it), but I envisage a Bryans Clock or a Fruit Bowl and... more Bryans. The set of magic machines would do well :) You definitely need machines of top quality to keep with the theme of the trailer... but then not machines that will self-destruct through punter abuse...

I have to say I am so impressed and I hope you will let us know where you will be pitching as I would love to come and see it and shake your hand.

all the best... Dicky

Thanks you all for your kind feedback and encouragement. Since joining the forum at the end of last year I took my first steps in learning about this hobby. I decided to try and make the collecting pay if possible hence the arcade idea was born.

I still only have a small collection of machines which I will eventually grow. To start with the following machines will be going onto the trailer. I can change around as I get better ones 😀

Mills Jewel
Mills Hi top
Brenner Past The Arrow
Bryans Pilwin
Bryans Elevenses
Jamieson Octopus Penny Pusher
Gunter Wulf Exacta
Bolands Black Beauty
Bryans Clock

The finished arcade will be at Rufford Abbey Country Park, Ollerton, Nottinghamshire, NG22 9DF this weekend 26th and 27th September in the courtyard as part of a mini Vintage fair in their courtyard.

I will post some more pictures as I rush to the deadline to get the machines fitted and the remaining artwork.

 Aristocrat inferior quality.....ha ha ha that is funny. Probably one of the best made machines ever. Perhaps you were referring to collectors preference or snobbery. I very much doubt a punter a would have a clue what machine was better from a collectors point, but playability it would be interesting to see what machines people walk away from against the ones of most interest........I guess the ones taking the most money, probably why arcades were full of Aristocrats.........

One thing I can say, I would throw all my Jennings and Mills machines in a river, to keep some of my my Aristo’s...... :HaHa:

Paul I can see the signature on the artwork, Thomas Tooley I assume of Tooley Amusements if one and the same and looking at some of his work and fairground pieces, stunning. Also saw your website, great selection of entertainment offered, hope business is ok in these crazy times.. !!THUMBSX2!!
