Have Jennings Governor on Sixpences.
Can anyone advise me why a small lever just in front of the payout fingers would be wired to the main frame preventing any movement please? The machine works and pays out fine.

Re: Jennings Governor
A pic of the area in question would be nice.
But, I'm taking a stab in the dark here, it's possible that the lever prevents coins from paying out so you can fill the pay tube by playing coins.
I know Mills machines had various levers that would stop the machine from paying out so you could fill the pay tube without removing the whole mech.

Re: Jennings Governor
It's an inhibitor for the payouts. A small catch that can stop all the vertical pay levers from moving forward through the holes in the pay discs (those on the side of the reel bundle). It features on Jennings, Mills, Sega + and comes in to operation if a token is played (as you don't want it paying out cash if someone plays with a token!).
Most operators/owners now just wire this "hook" lever in the upward position as it's not really relevant nowadays.
Hope that helps.
