Re: Günter Wulff : Penny --> 5 euro cent
That's an interesting idea. Some sort of oily tropical hardwood? I wonder how well they'll wear.

I don't know.
My slides for penny are broken, by use french money,
it's a try. For long time perhaps
happy English people, who maintained the pound.

It Bamboo'zled me
I'd have thought wooden slides wooden work, however if they soon break there'd be no need to Pine.
I imagine you could Spruce them up a bit with grey paint.
I can certainly Cedar potential and applaud the effort.
Using plywood I guess is Oak eh?
It could prove to be a Poplar method for GW bandits
Even if they don't last long it Willow you nothing

BP's post left me Ashen At least it wasn't a balsap.
The wooden slides are certainly worth a try. I wonder if a coat of gloss paint might help with both the wear and the movement.

I do not know what wood it is. This is an old stick. The movement is perfect, without resistance, without oil. No scratches. The only doubtful point, perhaps fragile, fixing springs

Yes, my instinct is they'd work best without a coating or paint. The wood's natural oils should minimize friction.

Re: Günter Wulff : Penny --> 5 euro cent
I can see the weak spot being the spring lugs, how about cutting the rear end shape same as the old metal slides then removing the top layer of the plywood in the area shown in the photo below and fitting a thin metal plate to strengthen the spring lug area?
Wulff (Primus) Penny ==> euro
Topic merged - Site Admin.
Because my slides were broken (too thin edge with the penny), I took the opportunity to remake for euro.
I chose the 5 euro cent coin, the closer to the German pfennig coin original
For 2 coins per slide, the slide should be 3.3 mm. I found the hot-rolled steel 3 mm (3.4 mm real by a tolerance) that I reduced to 3.3 mm.

My machine was naked
I found some clothes. With his clothes, my machine is beautiful. I spend the day watching my machine. Nothing can distract me! The rest is gone.
I think the color of the numbers a little pale. Yellow 5, blue 4
What do you think? Should we paint numbers with brighter colors?
The red ribbon is carmine or vermilion?
It's a very existential question. It keeps me awake
Thank you for the time you spend on my machine without being distracted.

Next time Basile, I think you should choose a longer skirt in brighter colors.
