I acquired my stainless from the wife's microwave oven, which I persuaded her was past its best !
Another good source is the local dumpit site: park up near the metal bank & hijack the incoming goodies before they hit the skip, avoiding the day-glo security thugs and banks of cameras. I have rescued a few sheets of zinc-plated steel from the back of washing machines which are great for rebuilding rusty Clock parts etc.
Try your local scrapyard, they never turn down folding money for anything!

Hi tree-frog, :D , I am lucky to know the owner of a stainless steel fabrication company. I was an apprentice with him over 35 years ago, so I just pop in and raid his offcuts bin.

I made the missing weights out of a stack of 5 or 6 halfpennies with a copper rivet through the middle. They work out at just about the same size and weight as the originals. I used halfpennies because I have 100s of them and no halfpenny machines :!?!: .

As for the case, I managed to rescue the original back and the original front door, the rest I made from 18mm MDF, and finished it with a paint splatter finish and a clear top coat Why MDF?..... because I had lots of it at the time. I also added my own top flash just to finish it off.

And as raj was saying, you could try the local tip, sorry "Recycle Center", where I have been scrounging for the last 40 years, but since the Spaniards took over last year, they have made it a hanging offense to remove anything from the site, which kind of goes against there prime directive of Recycling??? :dammit: :dammit: :dammit:

Thanks,

I did wonder about the top flash, as I had not seen this on any others, it looks good and improves from the plain boxey finish !!THUMBSX2!!

Topic moved & merged - Site Admin.

Does anyone have a Cromptons Tip em Off that they could photograph for me please? I need a high res picture, as I want to have the graphics printed. I'll be happy to post in Resources once I've prepared ready for printing.

Thanks |/XX\|

Thanks Stuart, yes that's what I need - but much bigger. If anyone has a machine that they could photo those two pieces of artwork for me, it would be much appreciated.
